My 185/60R13 tires on the 7 or 8 inch rims often cause problems, as a special approval from the tire manufacturer is required for this (7 inches is still possible, but 8 inches is a problem).
This approval will then be included as part of the registration.
That's exactly how it is with narrower rims. |
Just now, I asked a TÜV inspector about it:
The standard rim width range for a 205/45 R 16 tire is 6.5 to 7.5 inches.
A tire size of 6" can only be used with a corresponding approval from the tire manufacturer, which results in a requirement to specify the tire manufacturer in the vehicle's registration documents.
That's it for me on this topic

Not exactly:
205/
55 R 16 in 6" (ET31) is indeed an OEM combination for the S3 and the TT.
The flatter flanks of the 205/
45 R 16 restrict the safe range of rim widths

Okay, so: Does anyone happen to know of a (preferably steel) rim in size 6.5 x 16", with an offset of 28 to approximately 33, a center bore of 57 mm, and a 5/100 bolt pattern?
