Hello.
I'm having the following problem:
The hose connecting the power steering pump to the steering rack on my Golf is rusted through.
It's probably called a "stretch hose." It now has a small leak right after it comes off the pump.
Has anyone ever replaced this thing before?
You can easily disconnect the hose from the pump, but how do I get it off the steering rack?
I would be very grateful for any tips.
Thank you.
Best regards,

Hi,
If the expansion hose is attached to the steering gear with a hollow screw, it should be removable with the steering gear installed. It's a fiddly job because the connection is somewhat hidden. I've done this before on my vehicle.
If the expansion joint has a threaded end fitting, the procedure may vary depending on the flexibility of the hose (---> repair instructions).

Hello.
Thank you for the information.
So, without a lift platform, there's no chance.
There is extremely little space between the engine mount and the body.
It can only be opened with a ring-shaped key that has an opening on one side.

Hello,

I still have some work to do. The pipes are still sealed, but they are already quite worn.
eaten away.
Have you changed the line yet?
I'm interested in knowing how well you understand the purpose of the lock nut on the steering linkage at the steering gear.
I was able to loosen mine, but yours seems very rusty. I'm afraid that loosening it will be a problem.
Gruss Oliver.

Hello.
Yes, I managed it, but it was impossible without a jack. If you can get underneath the car and apply force, then it's possible.
"My hoses were completely deteriorated (13 years, 320,000 km). I had sprayed them thoroughly with WD-40 the night before. I also had to get an open-end wrench because otherwise, you can't get a grip on them."
A leadership position at Volkswagen costs approximately 140 euros.

best regards
Peter.
