Brake Cleaner: Bosch vs. Pierburg - Which is Best?

Is this tip about cleaning with brake cleaner only applicable to Bosch mass airflow sensors, or can I also use it on my older, one-piece Pierburg sensor?

What is the minimum safe distance that must be maintained when spraying?

Hi Manuel,

I also treated my old Pierburg with brake cleaner. After that, my tractor didn't run noticeably better, but apparently nothing broke .

I had pushed the nozzle through the grid until it was about 1 cm away from the sensor plate (the middle one of the three "rods").

It works perfectly. I've already cleaned several MB-LMMs (or better, HMLMs) with it. Just be careful not to let the brake cleaner touch the 'sensor plate,' that's all.

I took out the mass airflow sensor today!

According to the production date, it was the first one. This one has now lasted 210,000 km without any problems!

Apparently, Pierburg components are not as prone to failure as Bosch components!

Since I arrived late, I didn't have time to verschandeln it. I'm unfortunately afraid of breaking it, and then being without a working engine, because all the shops are closed, and I have to drive 300km to work on Sunday.

I will verschandeln the sensor next week, during the dealer's opening hours!

However, I noticed that the grille on the air filter side was so dirty that it was blocking about 1/4 of the airflow. I cleaned it, and I can already feel a positive effect!

Argh...it seems I was too late...I meant 'HeißfilmLMM,' or better, 'mass airflow sensor.'

Okay, I did it today!

It was quite simple, and a decent amount of black liquid came out of the LMM.

Actually, it's not surprising, especially after seeing the grid.

I actually thought I didn't have an LMM (lambda sensor) problem, but you can definitely notice a significant difference starting around 170 km/h.

He achieves the maximum speed as before, but now it takes 4 seconds less to reach it, specifically from 100-200 km/h in fifth gear.
