I just wanted to ask if anyone else is experiencing the same problem.

I'm having major problems using my VCDS to read data from certain brands of vehicles.
VW T5 Engine Control Unit (2004-2008): It cannot find the control unit, and even if it does, the connection is unstable. If it manages to connect to a MSG (Module for System and Information), it will inevitably fail when trying to read the diagnostic data (MWB).

This is also often the case with older Audi models (manufactured between 1999 and 2005).

It initially sounds like a problem with your computer or an installation error.
I am not aware of any issues with the VCDS freezing.
Does this behavior also occur in other vehicles?

Please provide a description of the installed version, including information about the computer, operating system, etc.

...and a Screenshot of the "About..." dialog box in VCDS.

And for cars with a K-line diagnostic interface, such as a VW Golf 3, Golf 4, T4, or T5 models produced before 2008, turn on the ignition, connect the diagnostic cable, and in the VCDS program settings, click on "Test."
Please take a Screenshot of the dialog that appears.

Best regards, Rainer.

Try out the tips/products immediately and write about your experience (including any relevant data, such as computer specifications).

Installation errors can probably be ruled out (I believe a 6-year-old could handle the installation), and the problem is the same on every computer.
I might be able to dig out an old laptop running Windows XP and see what happens.

I'll try out some other cars then.

I've only noticed this issue so far with T5 models and various Audi/VW models that use a K-line interface.

Laptop:
Intel Core 2.6GHz with 8GB of RAM, Windows 7 64-bit.

I've now removed the checkmarks from the settings in KWP2000 and placed them in KWP1281, and it works with the T5.

Quickly recorded on a mobile phone.
I can only test those other cars once the customer vehicles are also available.

Okay, so the problem is sitting in front of the computer. icon_cool.gif

It's easier to press the print button and then, for example, paste the image into MS Paint than it is to take a picture of the screen with your phone.

If you are unsure what certain program settings do, please avoid clicking around randomly. The "Restore to default" button resets the VCDS program settings to their original defaults.
