CAN Bus Climatronic: Which Models Have It?

'Can anyone please provide me with part numbers for VW Climatronics? Or are the Climatronics (including the newer ones) not yet connected to the CAN bus, or do they not require it for full functionality? I want to install a Climatronic from a Golf IV, Passat 3B, etc. into a 35i 3A5 B4, which, as you know, does not have a CAN bus.'

In the Golf 4, all components are connected to the CAN bus via the instrument cluster. Therefore, you also need to install a compatible instrument cluster, otherwise you will miss important signals, such as the mileage data.
In Climas >5/99, the connection to the MSG (Message System Gateway) has also been implemented. This Clima then has up to 70 service channels, instead of 44.

In my G4 plans, the Climatronic system does not use CAN (Controller Area Network) communication.

Nope, that just explains that you didn't check carefully. The Clima <5>5/99, in addition to the existing connection, MSG also provides a direct connection to Clima for supplying 70 channels instead of 44. Furthermore, there is also an extended connection to the Kombi unit.

Okay, so if you're retrofitting a <5>5/99 becomes more complicated because you then need another generator (3 wires instead of 2), and you also need to use some additional functions from the MSG, etc.

Okay, since you seem to know about this stuff: Could you get me a wiring diagram for the Climatronic system in a Passat 35i B4? Because, I think I'd rather not use the Climatronic system from a Golf IV. It's just not designed for a Passat 35i B4.
