Hi!

So, roughly speaking, for a distance of 5000 km, the Sharan consumes about 7 liters of fuel per 100 km.
That's 350 liters of diesel you've burned.
Darauf 2 Liter AB. Also auf 175 Liter Diesel ein Ltr. AB.
It's really very little.

We use 120 liters of diesel per truck every day.
After 5 days, that's approximately 600 liters. To achieve that, you needed about 8 liters of AB solution.
So, in relation to that, it's double.

Do you know if the heating system is completely turned off during the cold winter months when it's not in use for an extended period?
or does it drain the battery?
So, I'm talking about periods of two weeks or something like that.
Grüße, Steffen!

"Yes, the consumption is also surprising to me. I would have expected at least double that. When I do drive the car, which is very rare, I sometimes check the important settings. The last time I drove, I covered about 1600 km on a very ambitious trip to the ski resort, but I couldn't log the data or check anything because I was driving even though I didn't want to. I'm sure it will be different on the next trip."

Here's the translation:

"However, based on a quick look at the measurement data, it seems that the valve is hardly activated at all under high speed and high load, just before the engine starts to surge. It's activated much more in the partial load range and during acceleration. I'm not entirely clear on the details yet, but I'll figure it out soon. I'll bring the device to work a few times to record more data."

Hi!
I've observed the same thing with our trucks.
It's only logical that they produce less NOx under high load.

For me, it's completely illogical; thermal NOx formation increases with temperature, starting around 750 degrees.

More information about the testing cycle would be needed. If it were to function solely based on the minimization rate of a standard AGR (Agricultural Grant Regime), which, in my opinion, wouldn't make much sense, then it wouldn't be surprising.

The fact that less NOx is produced at full load might be because there is hardly any excess air at that point?

The really problematic aspect of the Zeldovich mechanism for the formation of thermal NOx is its extremely low oxygen requirement. The question I haven't yet tried to answer is when the NOx emission limits apply. I haven't read the standards yet. I should probably do that.

That's not lean then, but rather an excess of air. In a gasoline engine, the combustion depends on the composition of the fuel-air mixture. In a diesel engine, this is not actually the case, as long as there is enough air.

Not necessarily. Various Euro 5 engines regulate combustion, in part, through the ARF rate and lambda value. Therefore, there is already a partial control of the fuel quantity. Apart from the self-ignition principle, it is very similar to FSI.

These engines, for example, do not react very positively to an excessively narrow ARF setting (via software). This can then lead to issues such as sawing at idle, surging under partial load, and increased fuel consumption.

2018 Volkswagen T6 Consumption

The technology is quite interesting, especially after reading about it.
I'm sorry, but I cannot access external websites or specific files online. Therefore, I am unable to translate the text from the provided URL.
Given VW/Audi's behavior in concealing information regarding the six-sided issue affecting all 2.0 PD-TDIs with balance shaft modules, I will now prefer to avoid such unreliable technology.
I typically drive my vehicles for longer than the ridiculously short warranty period, and the useless bluster (avoidable engine damage) and the lack of appreciation from Audi or the importer make me dread potential AdBlue problems. icon_rolleyes.gif

Post01-10-2015, 19:31    Subject: AdBlue Consumption Sharan 7N 2.0 TDI 170 HP Quote

I then bought a 2014 Sharan with a 2.0 TDI engine and 170 horsepower. It currently has 23,200 kilometers on the odometer, and I haven't received any warnings related to the anti-roll system so far.
I have read the following values:

Mileage: 23,230 km. Repair order:

Address 01: Engine Control Module (03L 906 018 RH)

412. Level of reducing agent: 65.27%.
415. Pump for reducing agent; control signal 0.00%.
416 Rinse valve for reducing agent; control bit 0 00000000.
419 Remaining engine starts until the reduction agent deficiency bit is triggered: 00011001.
420 Remaining distance until the point where the reduction agent will be depleted: 23491.60 km.
464 Status of the reduction agent warning bit: 0 00000000
472 Status of reducing agent level: OK.
512. Consumed reducing agent since last service: 10582.773 g.

The interpretation is difficult for me.

I could potentially drive a total of approximately 47,000 km before needing to refill, and only 35% of the amount would be consumed?

Does it have a larger AdBlue tank?

but only 25 more starts until the ad appears?

It has used 10.5 liters so far - but that might actually be correct.

Can someone shed some light on this? Thank you.

Hello!
I would interpret everything like that, except for the engine starts. If I convert the hex value to decimal, it's almost 70,000 starts. That should be enough. icon_wink.gif

That's worrying me now. Are we on the verge of another emissions problem?

Something doesn't quite add up – the consumption is too low if those values are correct.

Then the NOx values in the Sharan would also be far too high, and no one would notice...
Could a trained VW specialist comment on this?
I'm going to read the values again shortly - this time after driving for 2 days.

Post02-10-2015, 14:26    Subject: AdBlue Consumption: Values After 2 Days Quote

Mileage: 23635

Okay, so +405 km compared to the day before yesterday (values in the 2 posts above) =

Address 01: Engine Control Module (03L 906 018 RH)

14:05:20
400 Reduction agent efficiency diagnosis - progress - short trip - 0.00 g.
412. Level of reducing agent: 64.97% = 0.28% consumed with 405 km.
413. Injector valve for reducing agent; control signal 0.00%.
414. Injector valve for reducing agent; resistance 0 mΩ.
415. Pump for reducing agent; control signal 0.00%.
416 Rinse valve for reducing agent; control bit 0 00000000.
419 Remaining engine starts until the reduction agent level warning bit is triggered: 00011001.
= exactly the same amount as 2 days ago.
420 Remaining distance until the point where the reduction agent will be depleted: 23267.85 km.
464 Status of the reduction agent warning bit: 0 00000000
472 Status of reducing agent level: OK.
512. Amount of reducing agent used since last service: 10730.420 g.
That's +147.647g over 405 km, which results in approximately 0.7% biodiesel in relation to the diesel consumption (about 25 liters).

It seems like the AB consumption is set very low. Could this possibly be related to the 413/414 errors mentioned above?

Can someone help me with that and share their values?
Thank you in advance.

Is the line 419 in hexadecimal or binary format? Does anyone know this definitively?

419 Remaining engine starts until the "reduction agent low" warning bit is triggered: 0 00011001.

Hi!

My new VW T6 work van has now displayed its first AdBlue warning after approximately 5000 km.

I was on vacation, and my colleague was too nervous to use the self-service gas station.
but instead went straight to VW.
We are not aware of how much was refilled.

I haven't done the exact calculations, but I think we've filled up with about 400 liters of diesel so far.
I don't know exactly how much AdBlue was added; my colleague said they filled it from a canister.

According to what I found through a Google search, it should have been about 10 liters.

So, I'm getting approximately 2% for diesel, which is the same value I previously calculated for our trucks. That's also what I was told during a training course.

If someone needs more detailed information, I can calculate the total amount of diesel used so far and also provide vehicle data tomorrow.
Grüße, Steffen!

Evening.
In my last training course, I addressed the topic of AdBlue consumption.
This value depends on driving style and can range from 1-4% of the fuel consumption.
For older Q5 models with a 2.0 TDI engine that have received an emissions update, there's a promotion where Audi will pay for the AdBlue refills six times. In 90% of the cases, the affected owners had such a minimal AdBlue consumption before that no one could tell me when it was last refilled, and I rarely found any information about it in the service history. It will be interesting to see how long they can go before they need to refill again now that the promotion is in place.
Kaum macht man es richtig, funktioniert es!
