Hello everyone,

This is my first post, so I'd like to introduce myself briefly.
I live in the beautiful country of Switzerland and until 2 months ago, I owned a Golf V GTI. In September 2017, I replaced it with a new e-Golf because my driving habits allow it, and I have a second car available. In my younger years, I worked as a car mechanic, but that was over 20 years ago now.

Adapter used/VCDS:
I am using the MicroCAN adapter (2012), which is stated to be compatible with the 5G/AU chassis VW Golf 7, with the latest version VCDS-RKS-17080. When I first connected with this version of VCDS, the MicroCAN adapter was successfully updated.

Now, regarding my problem:
As with many other models, the climate control system in the e-Golf is programmed to default to 22 degrees Celsius in automatic mode. Unfortunately, the last setting selected by the driver is not saved. Also, the last selected level of the seat heating is not saved.
In the parameters of control unit 08 (Climatronic), I was able to adjust the settings for the driver and passenger seat heating.
However, when I adjust and confirm the power-on behavior settings, I receive an error message 'Invalid value range' (see attachment).

Has anyone here managed to achieve something similar in a similar situation?

Regards,
Rene.

Hello again,

So, either only my Golf VII (model year 2018) is equipped with this feature, or I'm the only one who finds it annoying and wants to reprogram it.

It would be great if someone could try to change it back to the original value, just so I can see if it's not possible with my setup (MicroCAN and VCDS 17080), but it works for others. As I said, I've already successfully changed other values.

I appreciate any advice you can offer.

Regards,
Rene.

Hi,

"Invalid value range" can have several causes; one possibility is that the software in the respective control unit does not support the configuration option, while another is that something is missing in VCDS regarding the UDS configuration for this control unit.

Just try out the current VCDS beta version:
http://www.ross-tech.com/vcds/download/beta/current.php

Regarding "Version 17.8.0": This isn't really informative about UDS right now, because a lot of the changes relate to the ECU description files.
The "data version" of these description files is also displayed on the "About..." screen, and there are already several data versions available for 17.8.0.
The customer account in the shop always includes the installation with the most up-to-date data.

Best regards, Rainer.

Hello Rainer,

Thank you for your feedback.

I tried it with the 17.10 beta and I'm getting the same error message:
'Request out of Range'.

Probably I'll have to wait for a few more updates and hope that it will be supported then, as there's nothing else I can do.

Best regards,
Rene.
