Hello everyone,
Perhaps someone here can help me:
The windshield wipers on my Polo 9N3 stopped working suddenly and without any warning!
Quite annoying with this rainy weather!
Okay, please provide the German text you would like me to translate into English.
1. The fuse in the main fuse box (20A) is okay.
2. Rear wiper works.
3. When the windshield wiper lever is activated, a clicking sound from a relay is only audible when the highest setting is selected.
Can anyone give me a tip on where the problem might lie, or what I can read out using VCDS to get more information?
Best regards, Volker.

Is the windshield wiper arm still movable? My initial assumption is that the bushings are stuck, and the motor can no longer drive the linkage.
The best approach is to remove the engine so you can thoroughly inspect it. Otherwise, test the engine's functionality. Finally, the steering column lever could also be the culprit. Viele Grüße
Andreas

Hi,
Perhaps you could start with a general scan, and then we can proceed from there. There are quite a few things to consider, from levers to engines.
It is possible that the switch positions can be read out in the BNStg.
Otherwise, a windshield wiper linkage can sometimes become stuck, which may not necessarily trigger an OBD error.
Since I don't know much about polo: possible. Also, there's also a component protection feature that activates due to overload; please consult the user manual for more information.

Thank you for the tip!
The rod was actually stuck before, but I managed to get it working again.
Now, the engine isn't making a single sound... so I doubt it's the linkage.

I'm currently doing an Autoscan...
Result: No error entries. Only that, occasionally, the voltage of the traction battery is too low.
In control unit 09, within diagnostic data byte 003, I can accurately read the wiper lever setting that is currently selected.
I somehow suspect it's the engine.

Evening.
If equipped: Roof switch; wipers do not operate when the roof is open.

Start in sequence, as I described. That will lead to the goal. I don't expect to find anything useful in the error memory. Viele Grüße

I will do that, thank you!
I've already gotten a new engine, just to be on the safe side.
I'll try to tackle it this weekend and then I'll let you know how it goes!

Okay, the engine is working again!
It was probably just a corroded contact.
The pole was definitely easy to move. And after I had disconnected and reconnected the motor several times, there was suddenly power flowing through the line again. I carefully applied contact cleaner to the connector, freshly lubricated the rod, and reassembled everything.
Thank you for your tips!
