Is that right? It really smells like a plague. However, it's good when it's fresh.
If it bothers someone, they should put a air freshener in their engine icon_smile.gif. Just kidding, not meant to be rude.
As far as I know, the VAG group primarily uses 75W-90 oil in their manual transmissions.

Okay, that's good and nice, BUT...
"A gearbox filled with Castrol TAF-X 75W90 and drained after approximately 70,000 km doesn't perform nearly as well as the original gearbox fluid!"
I can't explain why, but that's just the way it is!

@MichaelViewing profile: Michael, it seems you have a table or something similar that lists the components inside a dedicated (polo6n) gearbox. And what is the fill capacity of the gearbox?
"Thank you in advance."

The odor comes from the sulfur-phosphorus additive, not from the base oil.

Post23-09-2003, 9:15    Subject: Gear oil for Volkswagen Golf 3 AFN Quote

Hello,

Does anyone know what type of gearbox oil is used in a Golf 3 AFN?
I've also considered the possibility of changing it. Is there synthetic oil in it?

Golf 3 AFN, first registration date 08/1996, 167,000 km, first gearbox and first owner. Engine.

Hello,

I have driven over 300,000 km with my Golf and I haven't had any problems with the release bearing, and I almost always keep my foot on the clutch pedal when I'm stopped at a traffic light.
I was lucky in that situation.

How? "Is this the original owner, and did you put all the miles on the car yourself?"

Hi,
Sure, here's the translation:

'small question.'
'Sometimes, when I try to start my car in the morning, the gear doesn't disengage even when I'm pressing the clutch. If I start the car in that state, it makes a small forward/backward movement (depending on which gear is engaged), and then everything works perfectly afterwards!'

What's going on?

Is this an Audi 80 TDI with 300,000 km and a second clutch?

Regards,
Sausage blinkers.

Hi,

Yes, I bought that car new in 1994. The clutch is still the original one.

Post05-11-2003, 14:49    Subject: Are pull-out bearings really a problem? Quote

Hello everyone,

I'm actually wondering the following question:

Is the release bearing still a problem today?

I used to replace the rear wheel bearings on several cars because they were broken. But that was 20 years ago, and the clutch was already more or less worn out by then.

I'm not aware of anyone in my circle of acquaintances who has had problems with the release bearing (and they tell me everything!).
Not even my mother, when she still drove manual cars and always had her foot on the clutch!

Therefore, the question is: Is it still that sensitive that one has to worry about it, or does it, in any case, last longer than the clutch itself these days?

I believe this part is good enough today to generally last the lifetime of a clutch.
