Hello everyone...

You don't need to worry 'yet' about the arbitrary flashing of ECUs.
Thinking about...
To the best of my knowledge, this flashing process is currently only available for the 3L Lupo.
and were performed as part of a recall campaign.

I can still imagine that after the update, one could simply run their own update again, if everything necessary is available.

But the easiest thing is probably to make a really big detour around every authorized repair shop. icon_wink.gif

Well... it's a questionable thing...

Firmware updates are usually installed to achieve an improvement.
This can affect all aspects of the engine's operation. Some updates are certainly beneficial, so in those cases, you should only change the calibration tables and avoid downgrading the rest of the firmware.

'By the way, I haven't seen any TSOP sockets yet... but with the right soldering tools, these parts aren't a problem. However, I wouldn't let just anyone work on such an IC unless they've already demonstrated that they can solder.'

You are right about the soldering icon_cool.gif.

Baseboards already exist (e.g., from Yamaichi); however, they all...
They do not have an SMD footprint; instead, they are soldered in.

Best regards, Rudi.

Do you mean this one? http://www.yamaichi.com/pdf/prot/pt03_ic197.pdf

They should actually fit... I'm going to go check on the lab rats.

Hi.

I hadn't seen those before. Here, the footprint must also be prepared accordingly, otherwise the solder pads will be very undefined.

Best regards, Rudi.

so, like with any chip tuner, icon_smile.gif

It would definitely be tight, but who knows...

If someone sends me a ;-)STG, a socket, and an IC, I'd be happy to try it out.
