hello community,

I've heard that you can increase the payload of a motorhome by using reinforced rear axle springs. Do you also need to change the shock absorbers for this, and where can I find information about that? Unfortunately, VAG (presumably a company or organization) is just talking in circles.

It's a 1994 T4 with a 1.9L engine, 50kW power, and a gross vehicle weight of 2515 kg.

Best regards, with sympathy.

The shock absorbers will remain. You need to contact VW and provide them with a copy of your vehicle registration.
They will then send you a list of quills/spindles that you need to temper (with color coding).
So, you obtain these parts and, after installation, have a qualified technician confirm the installation. Then, you need to take the vehicle to the TÜV (German technical inspection authority) for registration.
It might be enough to simply verschandeln the feathers/rods and mark them with the appropriate color and a brush, but I haven't said that because that would be fraud.

Hello,
'With my T4, the total weight was simply increased by 10 kg.'
Then I weighed 2810 kg.
My friend had it done on a 2.4L diesel engine.
He probably just needed new feathers, and I suspect the same might be true for you.
He did it at: http://www.pkw-auflastung.de/vw_bus.htm
have it done and was very satisfied. icon_biggrin.gif

Hello,

Take a look at the two major VW T4 forums.

www.t4forum.de
www.t4-forum.de

or under this private page, which explains the entire situation very well.
