Hello,
I have a VW Sharan TDI automatic with an AFN engine (110 hp). The engine has approximately 230,000 kilometers on it, but it has mostly been driven on long distances. It starts well in the winter, runs smoothly, and consumes about 7.5-8.5 liters (highway/city).
WoraWhat could that be due to?
Thank you .

Welcome!
Have you ever used the search function? Everything you need to know is in there.
Without a diagnostic system and logs, it will be difficult! What have you already done to narrow down the problem? What does the error memory say? All the information needed to make a definitive assessment...

Hello Joergs,
I haven't found anything yet using the search function.
Otherwise, I haven't done anything yet. I only noticed the error this weekend, as my wife usually drives the car. I was hoping someone could give me a tip on where to look, given these symptoms. Should I have the error codes read? Is that kind of information stored there? In any case, thank you very much for your help.
Marcus.

Not only can it read error codes, but it can also log data while driving.
A failing LMM (Laminar Mass Flow Meter) can only be detected through logging, not through memory diagnostics.

... there was another T.
I don't know what the f*ck it was.

With a search, you'll find nearly 40 threads related to it. Okay, your problem might not be exactly the same, but there's enough informative content there.
Given the amount of information in your description, it's difficult to give a precise answer. Based on what you've described, it's possible that the system is triggering an emergency mode. This, along with other issues, is likely stored in the error memory.
It could also be caused by a faulty mass airflow sensor, a clogged diesel filter, a leak in the intake system, etc. So, the possible causes are very diverse. Have the error codes read and first look for leaks in the intake system. Also, check if the turbocharger wastegate moves freely, as well as the usual suspects.
We would still need some more information, such as whether it's a limp mode situation (and if so, what triggered it), or if there's excessive black smoke during acceleration, etc.
All the important things. No one can read the crystal ball.

Hello,
Observe your current fuel consumption display when driving at full throttle and maximum speed. It should be at least around 11 liters or higher. If it's lower than that, the mass airflow sensor (MAF) is likely failing or is dirty. A replacement part costs 82 euros.
