Have you tried searching for information about the timing belt pulley problem in this forum? If you do, you'll notice that if the crankshaft stub wasn't properly machined/leveled, the new pulley probably won't last long, no matter how it's bolted on.

I just wanted to quickly let you know that my car is currently at VW, and the damage is being repaired :Dfree of charge}. The whole process has been going smoothly without any major discussions. I'm not yet aware of the specifics of what's being done, but I'll let you know as soon as I have more information.
