Hello everyone (and hello to any girls who might be here).
I've been wanting to try Ulf's draft test for a while now.
Unfortunately, I don't have a value that I can enter as the actual weight , and I haven't been able to find anything by searching.
Volkswagen Golf IV TDI with 66 kW engine and the following features:
4 doors, manual air conditioning, 16-inch alloy wheels (size 205) also included as a spare wheel, manual transmission, (winter and electric package - if that's relevant).
I weigh approximately 85 kg, there are no bulky Hi-Fi components installed, and the fuel tank is about half full.
Does anyone have an accurate estimate of how much my Golf weighs?
Thank you very much.

Hi.
I would recommend using the minimum catalog value of 2 doors for your engine, plus an additional 50 kg for a 4-door version and thicker tires, along with other minor adjustments.
This applies to the G4 without a pilot, so you need to add your weight and subtract the weight of any other passengers and any ballast being carried.
For a tank that is half full, you can subtract approximately 20 kilograms. Gruß Ulf

Okay, then do this: Get an ATU card (it's free) and have a brake test done (also free). During the brake test, your car will also be weighed. In my case, for an Audi 100 Type 44 TDI (vehicle registration document shows 1353 kg), it came out to approximately 1525 kg (!). Then, you just need to ask the workshop technician about the weight if he's performing the test. However, I don't know anything about the accuracy of the scale.
Best regards, Björn.

Thanks guys for the tips.
Okay, I'll probably calculate the weight.
I had the ATU brake and shock absorber tests done in March, and I didn't pay for them. I'll see what weight was recorded (I'll have to check if the car had any fuel in the tank that day, and whether I can find the weight in the test report).
I strongly object to the ATU Card.
I don't like these loyalty programs. I think they're just a way to trick people. And most of the time, I can get things cheaper if I buy them somewhere else (whether it's with or without a card - as a student, you learn how to compare prices).
But thank you for the tip anyway.

I'm sorry, but what do you mean by 'scam'? I know this is off-topic, but the card costs nothing and doesn't force anyone to do anything. Instead, you get a few checks for free. I don't understand your concerns.
Björn.

Off-Topic:
'Good luck,' was too harsh. I'll just call it a scam.
The auctions that you can get for free with the card will eventually be available to everyone at no cost sometime during the year (that's how I got my brake and shock absorber test).
I just don't like loyalty programs, and I consider the ATU card to be one of those. I also don't have a Payback card or anything like that because, as a student, I simply don't generate enough sales for it to be worthwhile.
So, no benefits for me.
And because I used to work in marketing, I now react somewhat negatively to these little cards.

Hello!
I just had my brakes checked as well.
The Passat with a 90 hp TDI engine weighed 1390 kg.
The vehicle registration document states a kerb weight of 1360 kg.
The A3 with a 90 hp TDI engine weighed 1270 kg.
Approval certificate: Empty weight of 1170 kg.
Both vehicles had very low fuel levels (maximum 15 liters).
I find it quite strange that the Audi weighs so much more. For a dynamometer test, that would be a significant inaccuracy (a 6% reduction in power if I add the driver and fuel to the stated unladen weight).
With the Passat, I would be able to achieve a very accurate result by considering the unladen weight plus the fuel tank weight plus the driver's weight.
... if the scale is showing the correct reading.
Best regards, Ernst.

Hi Ernst,
When determining the unladen weight, the uncertainty factor of "with or without driver" is always a consideration.
If the Audi was weighed according to regulations "without" any additional weight, and you were sitting on the scale with it, that could largely resolve the discrepancy.
Otherwise, one wonders whether, despite extensive additional equipment, the registration document may only show the basic weight. Gruß Ulf
