Hello,

After my Ducato TDI engine stalled while shifting gears, I have some bad suspicions...

How can I determine if the Bosch V-ESP system is malfunctioning or not?
It's confirmed that the timing belt is fine, and there are no issues with the injectors.

I'm afraid the starter motor might also be faulty, as the car was having trouble starting.
However, the drop-off point is located in an area that is difficult to access.
Furthermore, it is also secured with an immobilizer system.

Before I disassemble half the car, I wanted to know if there's an easier way to test this.

Best regards, Rodion.

Is that a Fiat Ducato?

Have you already checked the error codes? It might give a clue as to what's broken. The fact is that these diesel shut-off valves don't last forever...

Regards,
Bubu.

Hello,

Yep, it's a Fiat Ducato. Luckily, it has a 116 horsepower engine, which means no electronics. It's completely mechanically controlled.

Best regards, Rodion.

Hello!
I've only seen this on Peugeot diesels, but at least with those, you can access the central electronics or the immobilizer system. Any entries like 'communication interrupted' usually indicate quite clearly where the problem lies. But... if it's located under a protective plate, there's no way to check it directly. It's not just powered; it's controlled and encrypted, which then releases the diesel. Normally, three pins should connect to that component: one with 12V, and the other two with some fluctuating 5V from the control system. If those are present, have fun, but removing the protective plate from the pump is a real pain.
Best regards,
Dominique.
