Hi.

What bothers me here is the precision combined with the depth of the damage.
What exactly is puncturing the rim completely, without a single speck of dust falling onto the hood?

Hello!

It kind of looks like a truck undercarriage that's been hit from the side.
Because the thick pipes of the aforementioned icon_wink.gif also possess "precision" and "depth."

Best regards from Munich!

I thought the side undercarriage protection was designed to protect people and therefore wasn't as sturdy.

I would have expected more front-end damage to the rear trailer of the truck... although, if it was only hit in the corner...

It might be.

I'm not talking about the side undercarriage protection for cyclists, but about the "frame" structure at the REAR of a truck or its trailer.
If you rotate precisely 90 degrees (perpendicular to the direction of travel of the truck/trailer) and the fender hits this rear "car undercarriage protection," a damage pattern like this could result.

In short: They were mounted front-to-back and offset on a straight piece of tubing that extended all the way to the rim.

Best regards from Munich!

Ah, you're right.

And the hood then fit OVER the carrier, but UNDER the actual superstructure.

Nice Pirelli GTI... I wonder if I could use one icon_smile.gif.

It seems more plausible to me that the hood is BEHIND (or NEXT TO) the truck (depending on the perspective, whether viewed from the truck or the car). This is because the structure is generally not so high that the hood would extend to a height above the first axle.

icon_wink.gif Meaning, for example, the car was trying to swerve to the right to avoid a truck that was standing transversely, but it didn't quite make it, and as a result, the left fender of the car got stuck/wedged in the rear undercarriage protection of the truck.

My guess is that it was fired at full power, over an edge, a rock, or a curb.

My guess: Fired at full power, over an edge, a stone, or a curb.

...and while doing so, dismantling the fender and the headlight?

(see photo 1!)

I also suspect it's a truck body or trailer.

Is it a total loss? Probably not.

I'm also looking for a truck undercarriage protection, a worn-out loading ramp, or something similar – something sturdy and horizontal.

Well, according to the photo, the driver's side door is also at least scratched, and it's probably also dented. The question remains how much further the side is damaged.

A lot of scrap metal is likely to be found underneath the car. This could include the steering gear, the entire wheel suspension system, possibly even a driveshaft torn from the transmission, and a deformed front end. Also, expect to find headlights, a bumper, fenders, and damaged paint.

Based on my assessment, the damage will clearly exceed €10,000. However, I estimate it will be less than €20,000. I cannot estimate the value of the vehicle.

Regards,
Sure, here's the translation:

I'm now assuming that everyone can understand that this only refers to the damage to the rim. Behind a curb, there is usually also a guardrail or a traffic sign, which could have caused the rest of the damage. Please think a little bit! icon_wink.gif

I think he hit a foundation wall or a low garden wall.
The headlight and bumper have retracted and returned to their original positions.
The tire might also deflate a little and then end up in the same position it is now.

Yes, how?
Did the traffic sign then bow before the car, before it could ram a hole into the fender? *laugh*

Actually, this would be a great topic for some fresh quiz questions, if Martin knows the actual sequence of events in the accident icon_wink.gif.

Why a hole? I don't see a hole there; to me, it just looks like everything is indented.

So, a hole can also be a hole, even if it doesn't have any hair around it icon_lol.gif.

Unfortunately, Martin's links are no longer working.

As far as I can recall, the bumpers and headlights were largely intact, but the front fender was completely crushed – straight in the direction of travel – and there was a large hole in the tire, located directly above it. The wheel well was no longer visible in that area, so it was probably completely destroyed or pushed out in that section as well.

By the way, none of the headlights I'm familiar with retract back... They break very quickly, especially the mounting brackets.

Best regards from Munich!

No, no, the bumper and headlights were also completely destroyed.
