Hello,

Perhaps someone is familiar with the problem related to the driveshaft in the 4x4 Kangoo models. I own a 1.9 Dtci Kangoo, manufactured in 2003, with a common rail engine and all-wheel drive.
The problem is, I constantly hear a crackling sound coming from the driveshaft while driving. I contacted Renault, and they said it's a fairly common issue with the 4x4 models.
"The original price is €1000! Question: I've heard that it might be possible to repair something like this? Has anyone else experienced this problem, or at least heard about it? Maybe you can give me some advice. Thanks."

Hi,

"My father has a similar box, but it's powered by gasoline. His doesn't do that, but it has other unpleasant issues. However, I think I remember seeing a similar problem described on the Kangoo forum while browsing around. I don't remember the exact amount, but try using the search function on mykangoo.de; you should be able to find it there."

Best regards,

Jan.

Hello,

I just wanted to give a quick update about the Kangoo and the driveshaft, even though I really don't enjoy working on cars!

The constant velocity joint is mounted in two rubber bushings. However, it also contains ball bearings! These bearings are often the cause of the noises, including the ones I described. I examined the rubber bushings closely using a syringe and applied some oil. Lo and behold, the noises disappeared! I don't know how long it will last, but I hope it holds up for a while!

Maybe this will help someone else! It's definitely better than the cost estimate from Kardan, which was around €1000!

Otherwise, just a small update: You will always have to live with noises in a Kangoo. But that will become a habit icon_lol.gif.

My neighbor has a similar device. In his case, a disc on the shaft had broken off and was rattling against it. He reattached it with special adhesive, and since then the shaft has been quiet again (otherwise, the repair would have cost over €1000). It's the shaft that runs from front to back. The disc is located approximately under the driver's seat.
