Hi. I'm looking to get a chip for my Bora PD 100 HP (ATD) engine. However, all the well-known tuners are too expensive for me. I don't think it's fair to pay up to 800 euros for a chip when the manufacturing cost is far less than half that. I came across the company ******** Tuning (2fast4You) on eBay. This guy is offering a chip with 40 extra horsepower for a fantastic price of 220 euros. He also has consistently received only positive reviews. When I asked him why it was so cheap, he told me that because he ships the chips over the internet, he doesn't have any infrastructure costs. People should probably ask themselves why all other tuners are so expensive, considering the material costs are around 10 euros.
Does anyone know this company and what experiences have you had with them?

Ohhh, finally, some self-promotion again.
'We haven't heard anything from them for a long time, Mr. G.!'
but if you place an advertising banner above the forum, it's not only more professional but also more effective. icon_rolleyes.gif

It's always the same thing. First, it was 'ah-tuning,' and now this [expletive]. They just can't let it go... *shakes head*

You seem to know this company a little better than I do. I have no dealings with them. I'm just considering ordering a chip from them. But maybe you could share your experiences with them?

'I can do that.' You constantly find posts like this in all sorts of forums. They're always from people who have only written one to five posts, and strangely, they always write in a very similar way. And they all follow the same pattern: 'Does anyone know about this company...' followed by a list of supposed benefits and reasons why you absolutely should buy from them. Usually, someone else then chimes in with very few posts, claiming they 'randomly' bought something from the company and are, of course, 'very' satisfied. Coincidences happen...

Following the exact same pattern, Ah-Tuning ruined its reputation (but especially due to its poor-quality chips). If Mr. Grundner wants to advertise, he can do so. However, this approach is unprofessional.
I won't say much about his chips.

You can also buy the chip from a "reputable" tuner without TÜV certification. At least, in that way, you know that the chip roughly complies with the applicable guidelines.
That doesn't necessarily mean much, as my understanding is that all the emissions tests relevant to the TÜV (German technical inspection) are performed in a power range where the chip hardly makes any difference (i.e., without load).

Regards,

Olaf.

P.S.
Even "reputable" chips can cause problems. It all depends on how much one is willing to tolerate.
If someone complains, then some performance is taken away.
However, it's not entirely wrong, because injecting too much fuel can cause significantly less damage than injecting too little fuel in relation to the boost pressure (because the latter significantly increases thermal stress).

Hello,

In addition to driving without the required approval (ABE), there is also the potential for tax evasion due to non-compliance with emission standards (which are often tax-advantaged).

...and the insurance won't pay out anything in case of an accident. In cases of personal injury, it can become very icon_exclaim.gif expensive.
Are those few horsepower worth it?

Since you're all so enthusiastic about registrations, could you please tell me where I can get a 10-cent tuning registered? icon_wink.gif

Hi red,

The article about 10Cent Tuning explicitly states that it is not permitted for use on public roads.

Best regards, Rainer.

Okay, I know. I just want to mention that I initially had a chip installed by Upsolute, but I returned it because it provided too much power. Additionally, that chip had the disadvantage of increasing my car's fuel consumption by about 0.3 liters, even with economical driving. Now, I've had a chip from ******** installed for two weeks, and I can only say: not bad, not bad. With economical driving, it reduces fuel consumption by about 0.2-0.4 liters. Finally, I can drive my 1.4 TDI below 2000 rpm, and the top speed has improved by about 8 km/h. And all of this at a ridiculously low price.

Hello,

If anyone else is reading this thread, I wanted to briefly share my experiences with the company '********'.
I personally drive a 90 horsepower TDI Golf IV, which I recently had 'chipped' with chips from the company you mentioned.
What I particularly noticed were:
* A more pronounced and consistent increase in torque across the entire RPM range.
* An increase in top speed of approximately 8 km/h.

Now it gets serious icon_wink.gif Disadvantages:
The car smokes like a Russian tank or an old vegetable truck, and not just under full load! It's extremely bad when starting. I leave a wall of black smoke behind, which is far from festive, even when I'm not using full throttle. When I see Vollgas, I feel deeply ashamed and make sure to leave as quickly as possible.
Okay, so that's one thing... the other thing is the fuel consumption. At first, I thought I would consume more fuel because I really enjoy the torque and would use it more often. Then, on the last tank, I basically just drove on the highway for testing purposes, and I realized that while my onboard computer calculated a consumption of 5.6 liters, the actual consumption was almost seven liters (!!!). Normally, I drive the car with a consumption of 5.5 to 6.5 liters. With a generous interpretation, it can be said that the car consumes between 0.5 and 1.0 liters MORE fuel under the same driving conditions.

I have to say, it's not worth it for me anymore. Everywhere you hear that chip tuning can even reduce fuel consumption... in my case, it was actually significantly higher than when I drove without the chip, even with extremely careful driving. And as I said, not only the fuel consumption, but also the excessive soot emissions don't exactly reflect well on this company.

Best regards,
Jürgen

I just came from the Nürburgring... that's roughly 600 kilometers to Schleswig-Holstein.
There was a bit of traffic, but with my 1.4 TDI, a full tank (filled to the brim) easily got me there (the fuel gauge was just below half). On the way back, I drove at a constant speed of 175-180 km/h, and sometimes even 190 km/h (coasting), and the tank was almost exactly enough to get me home. So, I really can't complain about the high consumption.
If you don't crank up the heating too much, you can easily get 800-850 kilometers on a single tank of fuel.
Soot formation is moderate between 1800 and 2000 RPM under heavy load. It can be fixed by reducing the power output at the bottom.

I happened to chat with the boss of ******** (that company from Koblenz or somewhere) for about an hour right before the race started. They're not idiots, you know. They're using the yellow Bora (starting number 250), and they've won the class for the past two years.
It was interesting to see that they've gone back to using a distributor injection pump this year. With the 1.9-liter engine and common-rail injection, it seems like you can only reliably achieve around 180 horsepower. This is likely due to the limited flow rate of the common-rail injectors, which are also not easy to modify. With a distributor pump, you can likely get significantly more fuel through per unit of time, given the right nozzles.
Even if you install a different charger or other components in a PD engine, the power limit seems to be around 180 horsepower at the moment. Everything else smokes, and the pistons don't last through a 24-hour race.
I was able to confirm myself that the Bora consistently completes the laps without producing any smoke (which is quite the opposite of the competition).
I can't say anything about ********'s work with end customers, but the people involved in motorsports certainly seem very clever.
I have no idea what happened to the car afterwards. I was already at the track, and I only bother people from teams that I know a little better by calling them on my phone.

Regards,

Olaf.

P.S.
"Lately, the glow plug warning light has been flashing intermittently on my car when the engine is warm (and sometimes it goes off again). However, the engine otherwise seems to be in good condition and is producing normal power. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to read the error codes yet. What could this be? Recently, the car was partially disassembled: The turbocharger was removed (because the shaft seal on the fresh air side was leaking, causing oil to enter). Also, all the fresh air ducts were cleaned, the mass airflow sensor (MAF) was temporarily removed, and the EGR valve was cleaned and put back into operation." He's still experiencing the flickering now, even with the EGR valve disconnected (which it probably wasn't causing it in the first place, since the hose was connected and there wasn't excessive smoke, but disconnecting it eliminates it as a potential cause).
What kind of errors cause it to start blinking?

Well... this year, they're last in their class.

Does anyone know what the 'technical defect at 2:15' was?

No, that was the white Bora. I unfortunately made a mistake with the starting number. The yellow ******** car with the Australian driver had number 251 (sorry), and they came in third. They were stuck behind the Smudo Beetle for a while. I can't say anything about the other Bora, as I don't know anyone from that group.

ahem...
I just need to get this off my chest.
I have only heard bad things about [Company Name] so far (besides the self-promotion that will later be denied), and I really mean only bad things. Aside from the fact that their injection amounts are so high that their engines smoke like crazy, and that they still manage to stay within emissions limits despite having a very high turbo boost, it's just incredible! I only experienced this once myself, in an A3 that was being pushed to its absolute limit. At 4200 RPM, the power suddenly disappeared, and I bit into the steering wheel. The power didn't return until I lifted off the gas for 2 seconds and then pressed down again!!! Imagine that happening during an overtaking maneuver - it's an acute life-threatening situation!!!
You simply can't just sell something like that as an off-the-shelf chip. With such extreme modifications, you have to directly test and adjust the software in the vehicle because, due to manufacturing tolerances, it might work perfectly fine in one engine, but be far too aggressive in another – even though they are supposedly 100% identical engines!!
Okay, here's the translation:

"Next problem: you install the chip, but the whole process won't happen for another six months. The reason: the mass airflow sensor wears out or gets dirty, the measured airflow is no longer accurate, and we're back to square one. Even though it ran perfectly for a whole year, this can happen even with a verschandeln air filter because the airflow simply isn't sufficient. And so on. So, the soot is good and beautiful (diesel engines produce soot during combustion), but this is definitely too much and dangerous. Furthermore, typical TDI drivers (cold starts under 2000 rpm, warm starts not exceeding 3000 rpm) will likely clog their turbos to the point where the variable turbine geometry (VTG) will seize!"

gruzz mozz

PS:o Instead of advertising, go to TuLine and get some advice. You can even test the chips there, and Köbl surely understands his craft!!

PPS: ******** might be good and beautiful in racing, but a friend's TDI with 0.216 injectors didn't really perform well with them. I suspect they just installed some generic software, and the result was that it smoked more than Russian tanks! The same hardware, but tuned by a different company (*****), managed to extract about 12 Nm more torque without any soot (AND BOTH WERE TESTED ON THE COMPANY'S OWN DYNAMOMETER!!!).

Regarding PPS:
That's interesting what you're saying. The ********-type person bombarded me with text messages, claiming that they only customize their chips individually for each engine... blah blah blah...
I told the competition they were only doing that because someone was sticking it to them.
I (***) also had to go back once to make some adjustments.
"Even after the test drive, when I pointed out the excessive smoke, they just responded with the standard phrase: 'The exhaust needs to burn clean; just take it out on the road and really step on the gas, and it will go away.'"
Well, it's just a business that relies on small, harmless lies.

Regards,

Olaf.
