You're right, I mixed that up with the OBD-AU requirement. That came into effect for diesel vehicles on October 1, 2005.

It's no coincidence that the new on-board diagnostics (OBD) system is only required for vehicles first registered on or after April 1, 2006.

Considering that the 2003 Zafira is still the older model (Zafira A) from 1999, I highly doubt that it's already OBDII compatible.

The Zafira A model from 2005 definitely has an OBD connector, and it's located under the cover near the handbrake.

It does have an OBD socket, but it is not compatible with the OBDII standard.
