Hello friends,
After having spent the last few days looking into my Touran more closely, I noticed something:
For some time now, I've had the feeling that it's performing worse; it's consuming more diesel, and also the level of comfort has decreased.
I just thought that he was old and worn out.
After reading about the 24Q1 results, I reviewed my notes.
And he saw that...
- At mileage readings of 50,000 km, 100,000 km, and 140,000 km, the speedometer indicated a speed of 218 km/h each time; now it only reaches 200 km/h.
- After the initial break-in period, with mileage between 10,000 and 150,000 kilometers, it consumed between 5.3 and 5.7 liters per 100 kilometers. From 150,000 to 215,000 kilometers, it consumed between 6.2 and 6.7 liters per 100 kilometers.
'I was always very happy to drive a fast small van that allowed me to travel long distances at speeds of 160-200 km/h. In recent years, I've hardly been able to drive above 130 km/h anymore because it becomes too noisy for me.'
After being able to pinpoint the first two issues to specific mileage readings, I then researched what happened at 150,000 km.
Fuel consumption at 110 km/h on country roads during long-distance driving with cruise control was always around 5 liters per 100 kilometers, but now it's just above 6.
The result is 24Q1!
Now I have made it clear to my

that I want to reinstall the old software.
He will now read all the relevant data next week and submit a corresponding request to Volkswagen.
However, he mentioned that I would probably have to contact Volkswagen directly, as the dealer was likely to be dismissed.
Since I don't have a DSG (dual-clutch transmission), the impact of the 24Q1 campaign isn't immediately noticeable. However, with an increase in fuel consumption of 1 liter per 100km, there's suddenly an additional cost of €600 per year; in my opinion, that's absolutely outrageous!
Does anyone have information about a solution that would reverse the disadvantages of version 24Q1 without requiring a reinstallation of the old software?
According to my research, the main reason for the software change was that the 140 hp engine was too close in performance to the 170 hp engine due to manufacturing variations.
It's also possible that's why my transmission lost a few teeth at 150,000 km.
It's possible that this is common knowledge at Volkswagen, which is why a different, reinforced transmission was installed in my Touran as a replacement.
From now on, I will include the following statement on every project: 'No software modifications without prior consultation.'
Does anyone have information about a solution that would reverse the disadvantages of version 24Q1 without requiring a reinstallation of the old software?
'That last upgrade already cost me €1000, so I'm not exactly thrilled about further improvements at the moment.'
