Hello everyone,
"For at least two years, I've been bothered by a squeaking noise, the cause of which I suspect is located in the engine compartment of my A3."
In my opinion, it has nothing to do with the front suspension, because that creaking and squeaking was caused by the rubber bushings between the stabilizer bar and the tie rods.
The noise described in this post only occurs with high-frequency and/or impulsive excitation, such as when driving over cobblestones, grass pavers, or closely spaced transverse joints.
Given that this noise only occurs at temperatures above approximately 15°C, this, in my opinion, at least points to a rubber bushing.
I've already checked many places in the engine compartment, such as the air filter box mounting, the radiator attachment, the engine cover, and the hood latch, but I haven't found any specific clues.
Even when shaking the engine block, a similar noise cannot be elicited from the engine mount, although the vibration experienced during driving is naturally not comparable to this shaking.
Sometimes, the noise can also be triggered by slamming the driver's door.
I would be grateful for any advice, as this noise is really annoying. I have to say that I mostly drive on rural roads (or rather, side roads) that have a large number of speed bumps, ruts, potholes, etc., so I am almost constantly exposed to this noise pollution.
Sure, here's the translation:
"Thank you in advance."

Could it be the door lock mechanism? Your Audi isn't exactly new anymore. I had a similar issue with my Golf recently (although it's a common problem with many Golfs). After replacing the lock rod in the B-pillar, the noise disappeared. However, in my case, it was more of a rattling sound than a squeaking sound.
As a test, you could try opening the door while driving (carefully) and see if the noise disappears.

@Varianti:
Thanks for the tip, but it definitely isn't the door lock. Today, while driving down the garage ramp (paved surface!), I slightly opened the driver's door and didn't notice any change in the sound. In my opinion, the noise also seems to be coming from the front of the car, specifically from the engine compartment.
Are there any other suggestions?

Or, you could take it to a shock absorber testing machine and listen to see if you can hear any unusual noises.

@varianti:
That idea about the shock absorber testing rig probably isn't a bad one, because someone outside might be able to pinpoint the noise.
What about the motor mounts as a potential cause? I believe I can establish a connection between the vertical vibration of the motor mount and the squeaking noise.
Are there any experiences here regarding how a worn-out engine mount manifests itself?
