Hello Martin,

| So, it only squeaks very briefly when engaging the clutch while driving. Could it be something serious? Or is it just the clutch? |
Regarding the Mazda specifically, I'm not aware of any common issues. However, it's conceivable that the engine could be tilting in the engine mounts when the clutch is engaged, which could cause the connecting parts or flexible components of the exhaust system to squeak. For example, I once had a G2 where a hemispherical graphite gasket between the exhaust manifold and the exhaust pipe was squeaking.
White smoke is normal as long as it's steam. However, if it's oil fumes or coolant, which can be identified by the smell, it should not occur, whether the vehicle has a DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter) or not.
Best regards, Rainer.
