Hello everyone,
Numerous Google searches have unfortunately not helped me with my problem.
My Passat Variant 3BG, manufactured in 2002, has been experiencing problems with the front left brake since I purchased it in May 2015.
Firstly, the brake can become temporarily stuck, so that the Passat remains stationary even without pressure on the brake pedal. For example, at the traffic light. Furthermore, it can also become noticeable occasionally during driving, causing a slight wobble. When the brake is applied, it becomes apparent that it is jerky. Sometimes, the left brake lever becomes loose, and the driving feel returns to "on rails."
The salesperson told me at the time that the saddle, discs, and pads had been replaced. I had the same thing happen twice in the two years. On the left, the pads were completely worn out, while on the right, they were like new. Both replacements were carried out by different workshops. Shortly thereafter, it happened again.
After the last replacement of brake calipers etc. in the workshop, the mechanics lifted the car onto the lift and discovered that the left front wheel could only be turned by hand with great difficulty, while the other three wheels turned somewhat more easily. When the valve on the left caliper was opened, the pressure was gone, and the wheels immediately became free. Subsequently, the brake line and brake hose on the left were replaced. Unfortunately, without success.
Sometimes the ESP lamp also turns off and then stays on.
Does anyone have any practical tips? BKV/HBV seemed illogical so far, as it only attaches firmly at the front left. Perhaps ABS? No error codes were present during the reading, although the problem has existed since the purchase.
Thank you.
