I can hear an undefined rattling sound coming from the engine compartment. The best way is to listen while doing light ascents and descents.
Perhaps someone recognizes the sound.
It is a VW Sharan 7N 2.0tdi CFFB.
I have provided the original vehicle with the described noise again. The noise occurs only a few seconds after the engine starts and then at a speed of approximately 1050 min^-1. Injections are to be excluded.
I was able to identify the cause of the noise in the engine compartment after a long search, as the noise was coming from the high-pressure pump. After disconnecting the plug, the noise disappeared.
Now my question: Does anyone know about this problem and could the part simply be replaced? Or is the problem here to be found in something deeper?
The ticking sounds almost certainly come from the solenoid valve located directly above the oil filter.
If you find out how to remove them and you can dismantle the magnetic valve without damaging it,
Please let me know.
Another possible source of noise is the plastic pipes on and around the air filter box, and its cover. There might already be a relevant article on this topic.
I have also experienced the same noise with the CFHC (Tiguan 2.0 CR). It mainly occurs when changing gears into lower gears up to approximately 1000 RPM. Good to hear when driving along a wall with the window open.
I initially thought it was a "defect" in the DSG. However, it's actually coming from the HD pump area. Specifically, it's coming from valve N290 - the fuel dosing valve. Description: Regulates the amount of fuel required for compression based on need.
So, a modern sliding door closure.
To conclude this topic after a long time.
It is valve N290 that is causing this ticking sound. Comparable engines produce the same sounds.
Seems to be normal. One is a bit louder, the other is a bit quieter.
