AAZ Glow Plug Timer Control

Hello,

I hope someone can help me with the glow plug control on my AAZ engine. (I know, it's a diesel dinosaur, but it's the ancestor of all TDIs).


I've noticed that the glow time is always consistently around 8-9 seconds, regardless of the engine's coolant temperature.

I suspect the thermocouple is broken (although, in theory, they shouldn't break).
Can anyone tell me what the expected resistance values of the temperature sensor should be, where it is located, and what the pin configuration is?

'Where is the glow plug control unit located in a Golf 3 with an AAZ engine? I haven't been able to trace the cables yet. I hope it's not broken, because it does seem to be glowing.'

Hi,

It sounds like a glow plug relay. You can usually find it in the fuse box (where you'll also find the relays for the starter, etc.).
