No, that's not correct.
0.658333 is still fun even without a chip.
I've been doing that for 2 years.
Mostly country roads, 20% highway.
And that's why you find yourself using the longer 'e' sound more often in that particular context.
Where the AMF (Automatic Mains Failure) is useful with the standard settings, which are 2000-3500 RPM.
With Chip, it's definitely a much more enjoyable experience.
Thomas.

It's strange, but at 100 km/h (approximately 62 mph) on my speedometer, I'm getting just under 2000 RPM... so, slightly above 1000 RPM at a true 100 km/h.
So, you're probably just starting to reach the 120 RPM range, right?
"Even with the 0.75 version without the chip, it felt a bit sluggish above 150 km/h. I have no idea how it would perform without the chip. It would probably feel more like a regular, underpowered gasoline engine in terms of its temperament..."
P.S.
Driving on country roads, I imagine the gear changes would be strange. I once drove a 1.4 TDI AMF A2 with air conditioning. When the AC was on, it was impossible to drive properly below 1400 RPM. When it was off, it behaved like my Lupo.

Sure.
'I'm also experiencing approximately 1900 RPM at 100 km/h.'
That's not enough power for quick acceleration.
and definitely nothing for 70 km/h zones.
'But the typical country road speed of 120 km/h as indicated by the speedometer is very good.'
You can easily go with the flow starting from 80.
And it's perfect for the railway company.
I would recommend it to anyone who doesn't just drive around the city center.
Thomas.

I just wanted to give you an update and let you know that I actually bought a 3L.
10/1999, 136,000 km, with service history.
"Asking 2500,- because the previous owner was overwhelmed by the 3L issues."
Now that I've taken care of everything, he wants to give it back to him anyway .
The current fuel consumption is 3.8 liters.
After replacing the thermostat and repairing the broken brake pressure switch cable, it should be around 3.5.
Regarding safety, there's a world of difference compared to the Allroad.
However, I think that, due to its lower weight and nearly identical construction to the standard Lupo, it should have better crash performance, considering the inertial forces.

Okay, good luck with saving money.
Okay, the increased risk of an accident wouldn't necessarily deter me right now. There are just too many probabilities and improbabilities involved.
I sacrificed our A2 TDI to the A4 ( ) back then. An overloaded Sprinter, traveling at about 160 km/h, hit us from behind because I could only drive at 100 km/h due to heavy traffic. Fortunately, it was just the ASF bumper. It wasn't pleasant... but besides the Sprinter driver, no one else was seriously injured.

5th gear with a ratio of 0.70 instead of the standard 0.75555555...
Other available gear ratios:
(2. value = X% longer, 3. value = Higher speed compared to Tempo 180 in series mode at the same RPM...)
0.717 5.4
0.7, 7.94, 14 km/h
0.681 10.1 18
0.658 14.8 21.7
0.621
0.7 corresponds to the standard gear ratio for the 1.4 TDI A2 with 90 horsepower.
For me, this is the best compromise, as the car won't become a dune buggy, and the shift to 4th gear is still suitable for highway driving. Nevertheless, the engine speed noticeably decreases on the highway. Also, the longer gears probably won't result in a significantly higher top speed without a tailwind, etc., because the engine will eventually run out of power.
Most other people with an A2 75 HP AMF engine who have switched to a different exhaust system are using a 0.68 ratio or longer, and they seem to like it. However, I honestly can't imagine that a 0.658 ratio would be fun in the long run... You really have to prioritize the acoustics and the (minimal) fuel savings above everything else. |
Hello Olaf, thank you for the interesting values. Would it be possible for you to provide the gear codes for each translation?
Specifically, I would like to translate the longer parts of my Lupo AMF/EXB using the 0.658 software. Perhaps you could at least provide me with the code for that?
Thank you in advance, and I look forward to your reply.
Best regards, MH

No, I'm afraid I can't. I had those parts sourced from Getriebedienst Altona back then.
The A2 forum might be able to help you with part numbers!

Hi.
Search for the user "Nordhesse" on Google --> Hanno.
To the best of my knowledge, he's not active here, but he is in many other forums. He can certainly help you; he works at VW Baunatal in the transmission division and is also privately interested in his company's products. Contact him; he'll definitely be able to assist you.
