I personally find the touch function quite annoying, mainly because of the need to tap with your fingers. Of course, you can also use a suitable stylus, but the disadvantage is that you always have to hold it in your hand. Using a ballpoint pen, toothpick, etc., doesn't always work perfectly, and it can damage the screen surface if used frequently. While a screen protector could prevent this, applying it is quite problematic due to the size and the risk of dust getting trapped.
An input field can always be displayed on the touchscreen; this is not a limiting factor.
I'm currently using a Lenovo z60t for VCDS. I need to try out the Lenovo S10-3s for that purpose. It's so much smaller and cuter compared to the z60t.
Here's another solution for the angled connector: If you don't necessarily need an extension cable of 1.8 meters, you can find small, space-saving solutions with an angled connector on a short cable attached to USB hubs designed for laptops. These often have 3-4 additional ports. I'm currently using a similar device from Philips and Ednet.

The only drawback is that it cannot be unfolded 180 degrees (flat backwards).

Similar offerings exist from Acer (Aspire), which now also offers tablets (Iconia), although the latter are still relatively expensive.
"I use the Aspire One. It's borderline slow for MS Office with its AMD Athlon II Neo 1.7 GHz processor and 1GB of DDR3 RAM. Otherwise, it's nice for on-the-go use, and I would never want to use or open the screen like a tablet, especially in the car (with VCDS). It just sits on the passenger seat, and it works well there."

I was interested in taking a look at the Acer Iconia W500. The "looking" part was quickly over, costing 500 EUR.

The N145 next to it only costs 239 EUR

Yes, it probably has a slower processor. I have another one with an Intel processor that uses significantly less power.

The question is how long the mechanically not very stable Micro-USB connector will last.

I would definitely think long and hard before buying something like that – a castrated mini-device. A cheap laptop is a) more affordable and b) offers reasonable interfaces and c) a larger display.
Lenovo B50-30 MCA23GE, 15.6-inch, Intel Celeron 2815, 2GB RAM, 320GB, Win8.1.

And let's be honest, it looks stylish, but that's about it. Neither productive work nor browsing the web is enjoyable on such a small display.

Okay, thank you for your opinion.
I only want to use the tablet for VCDS. 8 inches is my first attempt; I know it's not very large, but I also don't want to spend hours browsing or "working" on it.
A small laptop seems impractical to me.

Alternative approach: VCDS mobile, but it seems that's still being delayed, as reported in the thread?

Hello!

Since I always have my Microsoft Surface Pro with me anyway, VCDS is always with me too. I think the touch function is great; it's perfect for typing. You can use the on-screen keyboard, or simply fold the keyboard forward, and everything you need is right there. I'm extremely satisfied with this solution; it's a lot of fun. It's certainly not a cheap solution, but I also need this tablet for all my other work.
