The engine code letter is no longer cast on the part itself... a block can be used with different engine codes.

This cylinder head might belong to a CGG, but I can't say that for sure at the moment!

Therefore, you can consider my efforts regarding the pins on the engine control unit as irrelevant.

Now you should check if it's really a CGG engine and which engine control unit (ECU) was installed, along with its software version. It must be an Magneti Marelli control unit.

Okay, bitte gib mir den deutschen Text, den du übersetzt haben möchtest. Ich werde dir dann die vier verschiedenen englischen Übersetzungen liefern. Consequently, the test values and pin assignments also change.

Perhaps the engine control unit (ECU) only appears to be compatible with the engine.

As I mentioned, I probably have the STG (Sequential Turbocharger Generator) for the CGG engine.
I would have to bypass the immobilizer by soldering it, otherwise the car won't start icon_cool.gif.

Good evening.

Did your acquaintance get the control unit included in the repair?
Did the workshop discover after installation that the control unit was not compatible with the immobilizer, and did they then adapt the wiring harness to fit, more or less well?

According to the vehicle identification number, your car was manufactured in 2007. Therefore, I suspect that the control unit is also from 2007.

The engine control unit (ECU) configuration for the CGG engine is different when it comes to the throttle valve. I can see that in the circuit diagrams.

I can't tell you how it should be.

To do that, you need to know which version the engine control unit (ECU) has for the CGG.

You'll probably need to obtain both wiring diagrams: one from the BUD to repair the wiring harness, and then one from the CGG so you can rewire the cables accordingly.

Whether the wiring harness can be adapted or whether you need a new one is another question.

"Preisliche" is a new cable harness, that's certainly an alternative.

My research does not claim to be exhaustive. However, the CGG system was implemented across the entire corporation from the beginning of 2001 until at least 2013. There will be a corresponding number of software versions.

However, this could be tricky because, depending on the version, the throttle valve may also be controlled by the large connector (A).

Perhaps someone here is a motor enthusiast who has done something similar before and knows the potential pitfalls.

"ECU.de might also be a good option; they can disable the immobilizer and are familiar with the differences between different engine control units."

It's likely that the most effective solution is to install a new wiring harness and have the control unit reprogrammed.

Hi,
It's kind of a mess. A vehicle with alternating engines, alternating control units, and a modified wiring harness. And again and again, "it should fit."
A motor block, with or without a cylinder head, does not automatically define a specific engine type (MKB). That might work for many people.
For a specific engine type (MKB), different control units (STGs) and different wiring harnesses can be used in various vehicles.
The overall design (or type) is largely determined by the hull and head, along with the attached components.
People are working on this from three different angles.
A sensible approach would be: Have a vehicle with an engine control unit (ECU) and wiring harness available, along with the necessary attachments. Then, replace the engine block and cylinder head. If you're able, you can convert it to a different engine type, but plan carefully beforehand.
But don't engage in sneaky guesswork.

I think Herbert found a nice concluding remark.

There are simply too many unknowns here. Since it's impossible to understand, even in the slightest way, what has been replaced or exchanged.

Herbert clearly outlined the variety of possible combinations of engine parts.

There are also numerous wiring harnesses for the various control units.

Conduct research, determine the current state.
Compare part numbers and verify whether the resources and financial interest are available to undertake the project.

I understand your concerns.
The car has already cost over €2500 at the workshop and with Bosch service, which is slowly exceeding the car's value.
I can't even open the valve cover because the engine is still sealed, and things in Germany are working as usual.
Now we're talking about my ego.
I don't necessarily want to be fooled by a car.
It used to be simpler.
My acquaintance can't exactly print money, otherwise I would have already gotten a different engine, but they thought a workshop could handle that.
Okay, thank you anyway.
I will report back on how everything turned out.

Jörg.
