Hi WarLord,
also, it's a certain attitude, and definitely not the most unreasonable

.
VW and Audi application engineers usually know exactly what they are doing.
and they also do their job really well.
I wouldn't get a 1Z engine, even if it was somehow tuned to produce 110 horsepower.
release it for public use, if I had to anticipate that someone might...
'Driving from Flensburg to Munich at full speed, assuming traffic conditions allow.'
My 1Z usually has (with the boost pressure set to the standard setting) just under 110 horsepower.
That's not a particularly generous amount of power (with reasonable settings) for a 10-cent power box.
and rather low for a chip tuning upgrade (playful thought: 125 hp also works, and 96 kW is the power output).
Chasing Passats can definitely be fun

; (Playfulness OFF).
Despite this, the engine (in my case) operates for more than 95% of its runtime with fuel injection amounts that correspond to the standard operating parameters.
It really depends on how you use the vehicle. If I always drive to the border,
A more powerful engine might be a better option. Otherwise, tuning can definitely be worthwhile.
Best regards, Rudi.
