Let's think about this further: what about the brakes in a G1 with 118 kW? There would definitely be some significant problems controlling that much power.

Well, well - some of the things you wrote in those "disaster threads" shortly after purchasing sounded a bit different.
But those were probably mostly "Monday car" issues, and not systemic problems with the suspension (except for the anti-shake software update).

Your point is probably correct. However, if you know the history of my car, we might see things differently. My car was previously a rental vehicle from a large company. These cars are almost never sent in for warranty repairs due to minor issues. Every user/renter thinks, "It's not really my car anyway." So, the first owner has to deal with any initial problems (which is me in this case). But I was aware of that from the beginning.

But if we're already dreaming, let's do it right: so, the BPX engine (1.9 liters with 118 kW, from the Ibiza Cupra) in a Golf 1 icon_twisted.gif icon_twisted.gif
.

.... Yes, if it must be icon_wink.gif .... I still have a Jetta body available icon_rolleyes.gif.

There would definitely be quite a few problems to control those horsepower...icon_lol.gif
Oh, you don't really need to go into such } detail. ... Or are you actually planning to make this project a reality?
Then the VAG parts shelf should have some (reasonably) suitable parts that can be installed with relatively little effort.

B&B even manages to put a 300 hp Lupo (modified 1.8T) on the road with all necessary approvals – but the brakes are from Porsche, if I recall correctly.

@ulf

if it's going to be done, then it should be done right. of course, there should be proper brakes somewhere. but those would again increase the weight!!!!! icon_cool.gif

Furthermore, I'm currently thinking about how to convert a Trabant 1.1 or a B1000 to run on diesel, possibly even a TDI engine... icon_confused.gif That should make it clear where this suggestion came from...

Okay, the car is here. It's a Golf IV TDI Special, manufactured in March 2002, with 85,000 km (approximately 53,000 miles) on the odometer and a 74 kW (AXR) engine. It recently received a new timing belt from a VAG dealer as part of the (long-life) service. It has new Good-Year tires (195/65 size on AVUS alloy wheels), plus a set of new winter tires are included, and a complete service history is in the glove compartment.
Unfortunately, it only has manual air conditioning, but the whole thing cost 10,730 guilders. I think that wasn't too much.

Regarding the initial driving impressions:
It's significantly quieter than my old 1Z TDI in my '94 Golf. Once it reaches its 1600 RPM, it also performs much better than the 1Z. However, the 1Z had more pulling power at lower speeds. Now, I'm enjoying the torque curve that builds above 1600 RPM. I'm curious to see what the fuel consumption will be. The 1Z averaged 5.3 liters (2/3 highway, the rest country roads), but it was also a bit lighter.

Thank you in advance for the tip to stay away from the AJM; there was actually another one with 85 kW still on the lot icon_razz.gif.

Regards,
Heart.

Welcome to the high-pressure faction icon_biggrin.gif.

The "low-speed frustration" that many people experience when switching from a variable valve timing (VVT) engine to a port injection (PI) engine is something that almost everyone goes through.
My significant other also complained about my Polo on our trips: "The Ibiza with its 90 horsepower pulls off better uphill without downshifting!"

But I still didn't want to trade it in, because the increasing power from around 1500 rpm on the ASZ is just too much fun icon_cool.gif.

Unfortunately, only a manual climate control system.

Well, so what? At least it keeps things cool as long as it works - and the more "primitive" a system is, the more reliable it generally is. icon_wink.gif
