More evidence supporting my theory that when searching for "Golf 3 with 1Z," the results point to specific features of the "Audi 80 with 1Z":

The search for tensioner rollers yields the same results for the G3 variant of the TDI engine as it does for the Audi 80.

Oops, no, the change happened in 1995.

In MJ 95, part number 028 109 243 was replaced by part F, specifically with engine number 289576.

For the MJ 96 1Z model, only the "F" option was available.

m;

Result: You and I are using the same type of tension rollers.

And one more thing:

autoteiel.cc should be used with caution and considered as a reference only.

They refer to the Conti ZR set for the new 1Z/AHU engine as CT867K4, but Conti doesn't recognize that part number; they only know of CT945K1.

For the older 1Z models, both use the CT867K3.

.. I'm feeling dizzy now icon_eek.gif ...

Okay, please provide the German text you would like me to translate into English. I will only provide the translation.

Okay, so we've cleared that up!

So, the discussion wasn't completely useless after all; I learned something new.

Otherwise, don't worry, Martin, the tire change won't cause you any problems.

P.S.: I have already had to experience firsthand that using icon_evil.gif car parts as a reference should be done with caution.
I just wanted to quickly show you the pictures.

Best regards,

George.

Okay, it's fine for the images (hopefully the images are correct icon_smile.gif).

Okay, that clarifies things.

I'm going to add a link to the old thread because then the claim about mass and quantity probably won't hold true!

Post24-08-2005, 21:11    Subject: Difference between CT 945 and CT 867 Conti Contitech timing belts Quote

Since I happened to have it on hand, the CT945 is the improved version of the 867 and should (or rather, must) be used instead.

Be careful with autoteile.cc; they advertise the Conti 945 but then ship a generic replacement that is intended for the 867, which is not approved for use with the AFN engine.

Attached are the technical specifications from Continental.

Does anyone know of a cheap source for the Conti ZR tire or the entire set?

By the way, the tensioner pulley on my engine has broken, even though the timing belt is practically new.

I played it safe back then and got the parts from Volkswagen.

After they replaced the wrong valve cover gasket, everything was perfect.
