Hello Bertil,

I need to check the index of the current software module first.
To the best of my knowledge, work is currently underway on a field campaign (specifically one where customers are not directly contacted).
Tschüss

Hello Bertil,

Could you please ask your Volkswagen contact at your earliest convenience, just out of curiosity, if they have any information or instructions regarding actions to take when experiencing vibration problems at idle on a 96 kW TDI engine (ASZ/ERF)?

Unfortunately, yours is a 74 kW engine, so Volkswagen would definitely tell me, 'That's a completely different engine,' if I went back to them and told them that replacing the four PD elements helped in your case...

Regards,
Thomas.

Hi Bertil.

As you described above: clutch engaged or disengaged, etc.

With the new PD elements as well?

Then you write some more.

Gefühlsmäßig geht er schlechter wie vorher, aber an meinem Messberg war ich schneller (!!!!) und die Endgeschindikeit wird schneller erreicht.

How does that fit together icon_question.gif icon_question.gif icon_question.gif?
Do you have any before/after DZR (Dynamic Zonal Resonance) values?

Assuming the old PD elements were already showing some signs of wear (similar to the VP nozzles), what was the mileage they had accumulated when new?

Check out my post titled "Real-world performance of PD TDI engines?".

16,500 km at the time of handover and 20,500 km when replaced - wear and tear??? I didn't see the components.

I can do that, but it might take some time.

Based on everything I've heard so far, I will have to resolve this matter through legal means, as I see no other way forward.

It is definitely clear that any changes to the engine control unit (adaptation values, this 'login 12233' thing) will invalidate the operating permit (ABE). This makes sense, because who would believe that the emission values would remain unaffected?

I don't see why I should be the one to suffer because Volkswagen is incompetent.

Let's see...

Best regards, Thomas.

Post19-12-2002, 16:31    Subject: 130 HP TDI Vibrations Quote

Hello everyone...

Here's a quick update on the vibrating TDIs:
After Bosch expressed interest in examining my car more closely, VW also got in touch. They plan to bring it to WOB (Wolfsburg) around the beginning of week 03 for inspection icon_wink.gif icon_exclaim.gif. I'm really curious to see what happens. My VW dealer said that he has never experienced anything like this in his company's history (he's been there for a few years). In my opinion, this can only mean that they are aware of such problems with the PD (Pumpe-Düse) systems, but they cannot reproduce them themselves and therefore have no solution...
@Bertil:
Have you asked your dealer about the 130 HP TDI (ASZ), whether there might be engine control units or something similar available now, like for your 100 HP icon_question.gif?

Sorry, Alzheimer.

Yes, I asked about it (before all the trouble). Nothing else is known, only the change of the (selected) PD elements.

@ everyone

Hi everyone. Nice forum – I've been reading diligently for a while, and now (having stumbled upon it by chance), I feel compelled to share my thoughts on this topic.

@ Bertil

'The problem with the idling issue is almost certainly caused by the clutch (you were right to suspect that). I experienced this twice in my 110kW Golf. First, only the flywheel was replaced, and then the clutch. Now it's almost gone. It only occurs when the car is at operating temperature and idling (with the clutch disengaged). Don't worry too much; it's not as bad as it seems. With the second clutch and increasing mileage, it will likely become a bit more noticeable again...'

Regarding the vibrations of faulty (clogged) injectors, I can only say that they feel different, and the engine always runs somewhat unevenly (regardless of whether it's in gear or not, and with or without acceleration).

Hi,

It was due to something else in my case (ECU - see error database).
I would definitely not neglect the clutch. Especially with the 96kW and 110kW engines, they put extreme stress on the clutches.

For your information, I met someone a few days ago who said they no longer experienced any stuttering after replacing the PD elements.

Do you remember what engine the "thing" had?

96 kW... please don't ask about the engine code... I have no idea.

Hello,

Here's a brief update on the issue of vibrating PD-TDI engines when idling, which is supposedly considered 'normal' by Volkswagen (for my 96 kW engine):

Bosch thoroughly investigated my car for two weeks, successfully reproduced the fault, but it seems not to be related to the injection system. They suspect a problem on the mechanical side (although the flywheel has already been replaced). Replacing the injectors didn't help. Now, VW will take another look.

Let's see.

Best regards, Thomas.

Hi Thomas,

Do you have that in writing? If so, there's a legal recourse against Volkswagen.

But otherwise, this doesn't sound very encouraging, or it could be that the engine has an internal problem (specifically with the crankshaft mechanism). If that's the case, you should also expect a significantly reduced lifespan.

Hello Bertil,

I'm just going to wait and see, but it's certain that these vibrations have to stop.

Regards,
Thomas.

Hello!

Here's a quick update on the idle vibration issues (PD).
Since everything seems to be in order on the electronic side (including the piezo injectors), and the problem must be mechanical, the camshaft was replaced. I saw the old one, and there were also signs of rattling marks on the lobes for the piezo injectors. Unfortunately, the vibrations are still present...
Here we go again.

See you later.

Thomas.
