Fuel Consumption: 96kW Engine with Tiptronic Transmission

Hello!

To risk sounding ridiculous:
My Volkswagen Golf IV with a 96 kW engine and 5-speed Tiptronic transmission consumes between 5.8 and 7.9 liters per 100 kilometers.
Since I always travel the same route to work at the same time, and also...
pretty much evenly driving is a bit too much fluctuation for me.

Surely, in the automatic transmission (AT), the torque converter must be constantly bypassed, right?

It now has 7300 kilometers on it...

My old 85 kW (approximately 114 hp) engine was permanently set to 6.2 liters, but it had a 6-speed transmission.

Experiences?

P.S.: Whatever happened to the PD survey???

P.P.S.: The amount of blue smoke during cold starts is also greater than it was with the old engine.
(but then stops listening).

The engine in mine is also noticeably rougher than my old one with the 85kW PD engine.
It doesn't bother me *that* much anymore...

Yes, the converter should be bypassed.

I think it's too early to make definitive statements about fuel consumption. The oil consumption is also expected to normalize after approximately 15,000 km.

"Mine did the same thing and it smelled terribly like badly burnt diesel. It got better after replacing the fuel injector pump."

I have a cut of 7.3 to 7.5 overall.
Approximately 10,000 kilometers driven so far.
1570 kg (empty weight), Passat Variant Front TT5 EYF.
min approx. 5.8, max approx. 9.

It averaged 7.5 liters per [unit - e.g., 100 kilometers/miles].
40% highway, speed limit 120-140 km/h.
30% country road.
30% urban.

Fuel consumption in Emskirchen: 6.7 liters under the same driving conditions.

Passat 3BG Variant, engine codes AVF and EYF, front-wheel drive (2WD), approximately 1550 kg.

I think I'll close this thread now, after having reached 84,000 km.

The average fuel consumption has settled at 6.8 liters. Fuel consumption strictly depends on the driver's foot: depending on driving style, it can range from 6.2 to 9 liters. With my previous AJM engine, the long 6th gear probably always "saved" me .
