Hi there,

to oil temperature:
/viewtopic.php?t=2820&highlight=%F6ltemperatur

As I said, whether or not someone needs it is a matter of personal choice. Only an oil cooler significantly contributes to the thermal relief of the engine.
I'm just saying: RVs and mountain roads. Anyone who has to crank the heating up to full blast in order to prevent the boiler from overheating desperately wishes for a {oil cooler} or a {larger water cooler}.

Previously, opening thermostats and temperature switches (from Behr/Hartmann Motorsport) provide a cost-effective way to improve engine temperature.

Unfortunately, they don't work at all, because after a while, every thermostat is always open, regardless of the temperature at which it's set. And then it doesn't matter at all when he opened it.

Yes, but with the appropriate thermistors, the fans also start earlier. This has already saved many G60 engines from certain death. Just believe me...icon_wink.gif

First of all, thank you for all the comments!

Regarding the oil cooler: I'm just going to take it on vacation without the oil cooler or any other modifications. And if I have to run constantly to prevent overheating... well, then you can guess what I'm going to change before my next vacation...

Regarding loading: I honestly didn't expect 'Right-Left equally' to be the correct setting icon_redface.gif, but it makes perfect sense. Thanks for the tip!

Regarding the load capacity: I've never seen a 50kg sticker. However, it might also be because I'm used to older, larger cars, and the (relatively new) Golf is the smallest I've ever had. But it's perfectly sufficient!) I just went back to the car to check: it says 75kg load capacity. (The tow hitch is from AL-KO). My G3 is not a Syncro, but the tow hitch is for both versions, maybe that's the reason.

Absolutely off-topic: Maybe I'll run into someone of you along the way or at the Cavalino campsite. icon_biggrin.gif (The only question is how to recognize each other) icon_question.gif

The permissible load should, however, be stated in the vehicle documents. And it should actually be 50kg. It was similar with my Passat. On the coupling, it was 75kg, but in the vehicle documents, it was 50kg.

and take the zgg seriously. I experienced a control last week, where specifically horse-drawn carriage drivers were checked. Several carriages were required to unload due to exceeding the wowa's zgg, and some were also those who exceeded the axle load of the towing vehicle. In that case, they had to 'remove ballast' before they could continue. And there were also fines! Fortunately, I only found that the 100km/h speed limit on the windshield was not observed!

Your trailer hitch is approved for a maximum of 75kg, but your car can only carry 50kg. The AHK (trailer coupling) on my Golf 3 1Z was also approved for a maximum towing capacity of 1500 kg, but I was only allowed to tow 1200 kg.

More information available at:
http://www.vw-service.de/rat/golf.htm

There is only 50kg specified for the 1HX everywhere.

Hello,

I just wanted to briefly report on how the golf engine handled the vacation rig with a trailer.

I was driving at approximately 90-95 km/h with the cruise control engaged, as the caravan was quite unstable at those speeds, and I preferred to arrive in a relaxed manner. The air conditioning was on for the entire journey, and was also turned on in Italy, where the outside temperature was often significantly above 30°C. Mountains were also adequately provided.

icon_arrow.gif Now, regarding the engine temperature: The fans were often running on level 2, but I attribute this more to the air conditioning. The engine coolant temperature gauge did not move during the entire trip. icon_exclaim.gif The oil temperature gauge does not have one for me, but I think that, thanks to the oil-water heat exchangers, it should have remained within the normal range. Therefore, the engine was able to handle the enormous heat perfectly well without any modifications. icon_biggrin.gif

I would like to thank all the writers once again! I will certainly continue to travel with my camper and the little Golf, as the performance was truly impressive. Maybe I'll get another anti-aggression device in the meantime, although I think they're more likely to have a psychological effect than a physical one.

See you later,
