Regarding the stretch bolts: Okay, since several people mentioned it in that thread and said it can be done, I guess it's probably fine. Maybe I'm just not brave enough to do it on my car icon_wink.gif.

Have you taken a look at the head, block, and gasket? The defect should have been clearly visible on the gasket, at least. Did you see any signs of damage on the block or head? Perhaps even noticeable indentations?

Regards,
Sure.

Here is the translation of the text from German to English:

"Guste" means "gust" in English. It can also be used as a verb, meaning "to gust."

Hello Guste,
'I still have the gasket (and will examine it more closely). Since the silicone coating was stuck to both the gasket and the block/head in places, it was difficult to make a definitive assessment. Around certain gasket holes, there were light brown residues (likely from the coolant, G11 - greenish-blue, with signs of rust); however, this was only present because the gasket had a slightly smaller hole diameter than the corresponding hole in the head/block.'

Otherwise, I couldn't detect anything (no obvious depressions/marks). Since I had absolutely no white smoke, meaning no water in the combustion chamber, this might also be a plausible explanation (a leak could only occur due to the high combustion pressure).

Since the ZKD (Zeitkontingentdauer) was changed, there has been no water leakage, so everything seems to be okay so far.

Hi Broesel,

Here is the ZKD+ZR exchange for...
G3 (1.9 TDI, 90 hp, first registration 11/95), 1Z, Avenue air conditioning.
summarized in an Excel sheet.

I have described it to the best of my knowledge and belief.
Of course, I assume no liability.

It might be helpful for those who are trying it for the first time.

greetings, broesel

'My AJM engine has also been experiencing the same minor issue for 35,000 km, and it hasn't gotten any worse or better. As long as it stays like this, I won't replace the head gasket or attempt any other repairs – never change a running system!'

If you should use the original pinkish-red coolant from Volkswagen,
Can you see a leak going OUTWARDS, indicated by the pinkish-red residue?
to identify which liquid remains after evaporation.
It is also clearly visible even on heavily soiled engines.

I was able to achieve this using a method recommended by the master.
ZKD (cylinder head gasket) replacement is missed because a Y-shaped section of the hose is...
the cooling system was found to be leaking after inspection.

A crack in the cylinder head gasket facing inwards (towards the cylinder) can be identified like this:
Of course, it's impossible to determine that.

Best regards, Peter.
