@Gremlin: Your magnificent example of a Düse leads me to believe that you can explain the atomization phenomenon in more detail.

There's not much to explain here. Besides the pressure, the properties of the fuel are crucial. This includes viscosity, temperature, compressibility, and of course, the type of fuel (its molecular structure). The geometry of the injector nozzle also plays a very important role. That's why there are problems with fuels like rapeseed oil or biodiesel, which can cause injectors to become clogged.

Generally, the nozzles are designed to produce an optimal spray pattern at nominal pressure, which is full load. The lower the pressure at the nozzle, the finer the spray pattern becomes.

'With chambered engines, there are almost no problems. A nozzle injector sprays more or less out of the sleeve, and the fuel-air mixture is mostly prepared within the chamber itself, or during the injection of the mixture into the combustion chamber.'
Direct injection systems must perform the fuel-air mixing directly within the air swirl; a constricted, thick jet is completely unsuitable for this purpose.
Nozzle types are mostly self-cleaning, while hole nozzles cannot be self-cleaning due to their design.

While Pöl and RME have higher injection pressure at the nozzle, they unfortunately also have a more viscous fuel. In addition to increased flow losses, the 'atomization ability' is also negatively affected.

CU Gremlin.

Hello fellow DIY enthusiasts,

Our ARAL gas station (located near Hamburg-Harburg) has now publicly acknowledged the presence of Biodiesel in diesel fuel by displaying a flyer at the checkout counter. Just one month ago, everything related to this issue was denied by the gas station owner. How is it with you?

What does this leaflet say? Does it mention a regionally limited use of biodiesel, or is it a general statement from Aral?

I often buy fuel in Luxembourg. What is the quality of the fuel like there, and what is the biodiesel blending ratio?

Best regards,
Uwe

From a fairly reliable source, I know that almost every drop of fuel in the region of Bavaria and Southern Germany comes from Ingolstadt.

Hello,

Just for your information: Currently, there are 14 locations of crude oil refineries in Germany. Here is a map:
