Okay, I've been unexpectedly offered a nice, warm, and very well-equipped workshop for a week. I'll be replacing the seals on the PD elements myself. "One day I take it out, on other days I let Bosch verschandeln it, and then another day I put it away again - I just need time and the right mood for things like that."
I'll get back to you when I have results.

Following the principle of "Never touch a running system," pressure loss at the pump-nozzle units should only be checked if absolutely necessary.
This is done using a measuring device and by clamping the return line.
PD installation and removal should be handled by qualified professionals.

That's only likely to happen if something is significantly leaking.

I did some research and made some phone calls...
Cleaning in an ultrasonic bath at a Bosch service center costs approximately 100-120 euros, I was told.
The friendly service technician from Bosch couldn't quite explain to me why that was the case.
My VW dealer wants to charge 23 euros for cleaning the 4 injectors in an ultrasonic bath.
One seems too expensive to me, the other seems too cheap - what can you expect from VW for 23 euros? Certainly not much, based on my previous experience...

The items are placed into the device along with the cleaning solution, and the "ON" switch is activated.
The right cleaning solution and sufficient power from the ultrasonic cleaner are crucial, otherwise the process is pointless.
I find it outrageous that some people in Germany charge between 100 and 120 EUR for something that takes only 2 minutes of work and involves writing an invoice.
No one expects you to stand right next to them all the time and pick your nose.
The cost is mainly due to the cleaning solution (which can be used multiple times) and the ultrasonic device, which is not exactly cheap.
If the lambda values are within the acceptable range under full load, you can skip the cleaning and go grab a beer instead.
Best regards, Rainer.

Someone who had already done this job many times at VW helped me, and they gave me a lot of practical tips that weren't in the "manual." Apparently, there have been increasing problems in the past with PD (power distribution) components becoming clogged in service vehicles belonging to the "green-uniform" group.
"Nothing was noticed during the replacement of the sealing rings, only the lighter discoloration of the engine block material around the first pressure divider element might have been slightly noticeable, but my colleague said it probably doesn't mean much."
My experienced colleague judged that the level of soot was low for a car with 92,000 km. He also noticed that the soot was very easy to remove – much easier than usual. No brown, hardened areas were present.
Okay, I'm going to change the oil now, and I'll get back to you once the oil has been analyzed, just like in the previous cycles (every 7,000 km). I'm looking forward to it.

Some people may have differing opinions about my method of documenting oil level changes using photos, but for an initial assessment, it's perfectly sufficient for me. As mentioned earlier, the car is placed on the truck scale at the gravel plant overnight without the oil dipstick. In the morning, the verschandeln dipstick is briefly inserted and removed, and a photo is taken. I think this is perfect.
After I re-sealed the PD injectors and then changed the oil, and after driving 2500 km, I can be quite certain that the seals of the PD injectors were not the cause of the diesel fuel leaking into the engine oil.
The lab report will, as in the past, confirm the increase caused by the fuel (I will then have it checked again after 7000 km).
So, the only remaining possible cause of the leak is the tandem pump, right?

Update: On Monday (March 11, 2013), the tandem pump will be inspected, and at my request, it will definitely be replaced with a new one. If the old one is deemed "okay," I can sell it on eBay.
If the product is found to be "leaking" during inspection, the warranty will be activated. I'll let you know what the results of the exam were.
After a significant increase in performance after only 2500 km, I can forgo the laboratory report (save money) and, frankly, I don't want to wait until 7000 km of mileage to see any results.

Because all the other locations aren't perfectly horizontal, and reading the oil level using the dipstick is the most reproducible method in that case?

P.S. Personally, I would never leave a car sitting for a long time without the dipstick inserted. That might be petty...

1. Correctly identified.
2. At first, I also felt guilty, even though the cleaned measuring rod that had been removed was left on the driver's seat overnight, but...
I got one from the junkyard and cut off the top part, and that's how it is.

So, I finally managed to find my way to Castrol's lab (via email) and I inquired about their opinion on the 10% diesel content in the engine oil after a mileage of 7000 km.
I then received the following information:
Thank you for your email.
It is difficult to specify an exact threshold at which the ingress of diesel fuel into the engine oil, as with Castrol EDGE 5W-30, can lead to engine damage.
For the 2.0-liter TDI engine produced by Volkswagen AG, experience shows that oil samples with up to 18% fuel dilution have been observed without causing any damage. However, factors such as mileage, driving style, and fuel quality also contribute to the wear and tear of the engine. However, we also have no evidence to suggest that adding 10% diesel fuel to the fuel tank will definitely damage the engine.
We hope that this information has been helpful to you, and we wish you safe travels at all times!
"Na Prost Mahlzeit" - An 18% diesel content in 4.3 liters is almost 0.8 liters.
Okay guys, if you ever find yourselves running low on oil in the future, you can safely use the diesel pump to fill the missing volume by inserting the nozzle into the oil filler neck.

...which would likely render any specifications for motor oil irrelevant.
According to this, you could practically add almost anything that can be called a modern motor oil.
I wouldn't overestimate it. Diesel fuel simply doesn't belong in engine oil in those quantities.
Should automotive manufacturers come up with a solution to enable regeneration without the diesel fuel condensing, perhaps by using an additional injector in the exhaust system outside of the engine? Maybe it's time to open your eyes and see what the competition is doing.
