The rear wiper on my Golf IV is malfunctioning.
When I turn it on, it stops 3-5 times during the reverse cycle.
(i.e., it still works, but...)
If I let it run for longer, it will wipe normally. icon_confused.gif

Könnte es sein, das er zu schwergängig läuft? OdHe has such a...
'Wischer' is a wiper. 'eine Positionsrückmeldung (Poti)' means a position feedback potentiometer. 'die einen an der' is incomplete and doesn't make sense in this context. A possible translation, assuming the intended meaning is related to a wiper connected to a potentiometer:

'The wiper is connected to a potentiometer that provides position feedback.'
Does Waffle have?
Can the casing be opened?

hi fred!

It's possible that you have a broken cable in the rubber housing at the top, which is why he's having trouble receiving a signal, or the cables are corroded.

However, it's more likely that the wiper motor is simply stuck, which has happened to me before.

Simply activate the rear windshield wipers and gently move them back and forth with your hand, and add a little silicone spray. That's it. It has worked wonders for me.

Best regards, Jan.

@kixx_assViewing profile: kixx_ass:

Is this the original rear wiper motor that was installed from the factory?

If not, then, in my opinion, there's a very simple explanation: you have a combined wiper motor installed.
I also installed a used windshield wiper motor from a Passat wagon in my wife's G4. It exhibits the same strange wiping behavior. First, it wipes completely across the windshield, then it only moves in steps (2 or 3 stops per wiping cycle). This behavior is absolutely reproducible.

Regards,
Alex.

@donaldexo:

why are you asking me? my windshield wiper works wonderfully again icon_eek.gif icon_question.gif.

Fred is having a problem with his.

But to answer your question: I have the original, factory-installed one. I think mine might have gotten a bit rusty or had some salt residue build-up after the winter.

My problem was that it simply wouldn't clean anymore! The motor was running (you could hear it), but nothing was moving.
