hello

I just re-coded my automatic transmission. Unfortunately, I couldn't notice any changes. I first entered '0050', then '0100'. Despite that, the transmission still doesn't shift up sooner, and the engine revs up even with the slightest touch of the accelerator. It's a 1999 TDI ALH with an automatic transmission.

Did I adjust the setting in the wrong place? I changed the number under 'STG coding.' If I did something wrong, can someone tell me where I need to make the change?

If you're coding something and you don't understand what it means, you should probably stop.

00050 is not a valid code for a 01M transmission.

Code:
000x? - Transmission Mode
0 - Factory mode (adaptive transmission mode)
1 - Force economy mode (lower shift points)
2 - Force sport mode (higher shift points)

000?x - DSP Mode
0 - DSP active
1 - DSP inactive

It was recommended to me a few weeks ago here in this forum.

Okay, please explain step by step where and what exactly I should change.

and what does DSP mode mean?

I've been doing some research online. If I understand correctly, I need to disable 'DSP' (learning ability?) and enable 'FEM' to drive more efficiently. Is it correct that I need to enter '00011' under 'STG codierung'?

Yes, I would try using 00011.

DSP = Dynamic Switching Program.

However, it should be stated again that the 01M coding variants are not officially documented, but these variants are the only ones that have actually been tested by multiple people. Therefore, it might be worth keeping an eye on the values in measurement group 006...

General tip:

If the transmission control module (TCM) behaves like the engine control module (ECM), you must turn off the ignition after reprogramming. Otherwise, while the new coding will be displayed on the VAGCOM screen, the TCM's "working memory" will still contain the characteristic maps of the old coding.

When using MSG with both a stock and a tuned data set, the system might continue to operate with the stock performance even after switching to the tuned coding. It's only after restarting the engine once that the full benefits of the tuning are realized.

For me, and for some other known forum members, the re-coding to 00050 definitely had an effect!
After the restart, an immediate change could be observed.

Other gear ratios are possible, but above 00150, they become less practical. A value of 0050 has proven to be the optimum setting for a balance between comfortable riding and an 'eco-friendly' style.

I don't know why the remapping didn't have any effect for you...

I haven't had a chance to try 00011 yet.
I'll test it out after work today and report back tomorrow.

Here's the information from my employer:

I've now installed version 00011, but there's still no change. The fourth gear seems to shift back to third a little later when decelerating, but everything else remains the same.

I probably don't have a 5-speed automatic transmission. The Bora only has 4 gears.

A 01M is an AG4 (as your control unit also indicates), which, translated, means:

Automatic transmission, 4-speed.

Of course, it's a 4-speed automatic transmission (although the label says 5-speed).

I tried 00011 yesterday, it was great!
The kick-down seems to be disabled, as well as the dynamic learning program.

This setting offers a very good balance of economy and comfort, and I plan to stick with it.
Compared to 00050, the AG doesn't switch as aggressively, but it's just as lazy.

I don't understand why the AG (amplifier) from polo2f isn't responding to reprogramming.

Thank you to know-it-alls.

Best regards, Georg.

Good question...

The only thing I've noticed is that the transmission shifts from 4th to 3rd gear a little later when decelerating. Otherwise, everything seems to have remained the same.

It's shifting up too late. For example, I'm driving 60-65 km/h in 3rd gear, and it's not shifting up, even though the engine is at 2000 RPM. It's only at 70 km/h that you can shift into 4th gear.

'Furthermore, I'm annoyed that when driving uphill at 80 km/h in 4th gear, the transmission sometimes shifts back to 3rd gear, even though there's plenty of torque available. That's the most frustrating thing. You drive a TDI and don't even utilize the torque. I have my fun Polo for high RPMs anyway :-S'

'It's logical that the polo2f also benefits from higher RPMs, because even with diesel engines, it's often better to have higher RPMs. The automatic transmission shifts into 4th gear, resulting in a current fuel consumption of 12 liters, while in 3rd gear, at a significantly higher RPM, the system calculates a current fuel consumption of 11 liters.'
It's not always a good idea to drive a diesel engine at or around 2000 rpm.
Best regards,
Martin

Generally speaking, as far as I know, all TDIs have their minimum specific fuel consumption around 2000 rpm, and this continuously increases at higher speeds, which means it gets worse.
Only when this effect is offset by lower AC drive losses in a lower gear can a lower gear be "more economical."

It doesn't always make sense to drive a diesel engine at or around 2000 rpm.} With manual transmissions, it generally does (reason see above).

Hier noch was zum Spez. Consumption:
http://www.ecodrive.org/pdf/ecodrive_2010.pdf

The diagram is from a gasoline engine, but the area representing good efficiency is located slightly further to the left for the diesel engine, indicating lower engine speeds.

Wasn't the 1T the first production engine with emissions below 200 g/kWh?

Okay. I drove a Passat TDI with a Tiptronic transmission for a while. The fuel consumption in automatic mode was about 8 liters. If you shift manually, it's already down to 7 liters.
