Hello,

Yesterday, after repeatedly noticing suspiciously loud rolling noises while driving slowly, I inspected my tire and diagnosed it with a saw-tooth profile.
In Abrollrichtung pro Aussenstollen ein Abnutzungsdifferenz zum entspr. Neighbor's tunnel.
possibly 0.5 mm.

Where does it come from? The shock absorbers are probably fine.
Only noticeable damage consists of hard impacts from deck fittings or cross joints.
Could it be related to the alignment or camber?
Or even on the tire itself? That's the original equipment tire.
or is that completely normal?

Is it a multi-link rear axle?

Thank you.

'I've also experienced saw-toothing on various tire types! But in my case, it seems to be significantly more than 0.5 mm, probably around 1.5 mm, and it's quite noisy. This is likely due to the 225-width tires I have on my Ibiza 6K and the relatively light weight at the rear axle.'

I once had it on an Audi 80 on the front axle. The reason for this was worn-out strut mounts.

Regards,

Thomas.

Was the situation with the driven axle the same as with the idler axle?

Oops, I forgot.

It's the trailing axis.

But that wasn't quite my question! icon_wink.gif

This is the coffee consumption that disrupts my brain metabolism icon_smile.gif.

It's only the rear axle where the wheels make a noticeably loud rumbling sound, even at low speeds.
