**Clamping Disc Brake, Causes** A clamping disc brake is a type of brake that uses a series of steel plates to clamp onto a rotor to stop the vehicle. The plates are typically made of steel, but they can also be made of other materials, such as carbon fiber or titanium. There are a number of potential causes for a clamping disc brake failure. These include: * **Wear and tear:** Over time, the steel plates in a clamping disc brake can wear down due to friction. This can cause the plates to become loose and unable to clamp properly. * **Contamination:** Contaminants, such as dirt, oil, or water, can get into the brake system and cause the plates to become damaged. * **Corrosion:** Corrosion can also damage the steel plates in a clamping disc brake. This can cause the plates to become weak and unable to clamp properly. * **Improper installation:** If the clamping disc brake is not installed properly, it can cause the plates to become misaligned and unable to clamp properly. * **Overheating:** Overheating can also damage the steel plates in a clamping disc brake. This can cause the plates to become warped and unable to clamp properly. If you suspect that your clamping (Solution)

If the brake fails to open properly and overheats during operation, the following steps will be successful in identifying the cause:
- Check if the wheel also rotates heavily when stationary and cooled down: If not, check if the brake booster's ventilation is working (if not, more or fewer wheels would be affected, not just individual ones). Often, there is a small filter that loses its permeability due to dirt and grime.
- Yes: Remove the wheel, open the vent nipple on the brake caliper. Now turn the wheel slightly, and the brake fluid will remain under residual pressure, for example, due to a swollen brake hose, a faulty master cylinder, or problems with the ABS block.
- Even with the bleeder nipple open, the brake disc still feels heavy, which means either the brake pads are stuck in their guides or the brake caliper piston is not retracting properly after releasing the brake pedal. The latter is often caused by a damaged seal on the piston and subsequent corrosion. Old seals on the caliper itself can also impair retraction.

By following this approach, you avoid unplanned and expensive part replacements based on suspicion, instead, possible causes are systematically ruled out.

Good luck!

Gibt es von der BKV Belüftung Bilder? Wo genau eingebaut?

https://www.kfz-tech.de/Biblio/Hydraulische_Bremse/Bremskraftverst.htm
