Hi.

Unfortunately, I had a minor accident with my car on Saturday (I went off the road at 110 km/h and ended up in a ditch), which partially destroyed the auxiliary heater.

'This is a B5wsc control unit, manufactured in 2004. The combustion chamber is still okay, but the plastic parts on top (specifically the water pump and the other cover where the dosing pump is located in diesel heaters) are disassembled. Where can I find these parts cheaply? Bosch service is very expensive. Does anyone in the forum have access to these parts at a reasonable price, or does anyone have a broken Eberspächer heater lying around?'

^^ pictures of the accident.

Okay, and if anyone is selling a 6N 16V, please let me know.

Thank you, Marc.

Does anyone have any ideas besides contacting Bosch support?

Unfortunately, not for SH.

But my condolences about the car. I hope you got through the whole thing without any scratches.
The Polo is probably for disposal.

What kind of images of Zimmermann brakes are on your website?
How do you even manage to do something like that?

hiho

'My polo is totaled. I have a few scratches on my face from the side window (which I broke with the help of my glasses and my head). Otherwise, nothing. I only got severe back pain for 3-4 days after the accident, but that's not surprising because I pushed the driver's seat onto the floor panel icon_eek.gif. And no, the panel didn't come up, and I only weigh 62kg, so just imagine the acceleration.'

'Regarding the brakes, according to Zimmermann, I let them rust too much. The brake finally broke during a test braking at 20 km/h, and this has nothing to do with the accident.'

Hi,

In my opinion, the issue with excessively rusted brake discs is quite ridiculous. If a car sits at a dealership for 3 months, it should theoretically have new brakes installed, because they would be that rusted.
Rust only occurs where the brake pads and rotor are supposed to make contact. It causes poor braking performance, increased wear, and unpleasant noises in those areas.
When I look at the pictures of your rotors, it's not about the rust on the "active" surface of the rotors, but on other areas, specifically the edges of the rotors. However, that all looks perfectly normal. Compared to a car driven infrequently, which gets new rotors after 6 years, your rotors look great, and even the rotors on infrequently driven cars don't crack! Why would they? What does the rust on the edges have to do with the rotors cracking? And that part definitely hasn't been sheared off, has it?

I would carefully examine the linings of the pads and the saddle, checking for any missing or excess material, and whether the pads might be misaligned.

Edit: Glück gehabt mit Deinem Unfall. Was war der Grund? Too fast?

Regards,
Sure, here is the translation of the text from German to English:

Okay, take a look at the brake tuning post; I've posted the emails from Zimmermann there. The rusting occurs because the Zimmermann discs don't have any corrosion protection, otherwise they couldn't be half as cheap. icon_lol.gif

The saddle isn't the problem; it's not coming from there. Besides, it's been cracking since the summer, so it must have been broken for a while already.

'Because of the accident, well, I apparently was going too fast, but normally you can take that curve at that speed.'
