Vehicle: Volkswagen Lupo, first registration 05/2000, engine code: AQQ, 1.4 16V.

After a major engine failure caused by a self-loosening tensioner, I was able to obtain a replacement engine with 8,000 km on it.
It is now installed, but it cannot be started.

The following errors cannot be cleared from the error memory:
17989 - Throttle control unit (J338) - Basic setting not performed.
16845 - Fuel level sensor: Implausible signal.

When I try to start the engine and engage the starter for a while, the following errors appear. However, these errors can be cleared.
18087 - Indicator light for electric gas valve actuator (K132). Circuit interruption.
17962 - Throttle control unit (J338) - Basic setting condition not met.

"An adaptation of the DK cannot be performed. MWB 060, Field 4: "ERROR"."
When I perform the actuator test, all actuators, including the DK (likely a specific component), are controlled without errors.

I suspect that the adaptation process can only be performed when there are no error codes stored in the system. Can anyone confirm this? To all NIWASLE users, does anyone have a solution for error codes 16845 and 18087?

Thank you in advance for all the answers.

hello.

Do you have the same engine (engine code) installed?

As far as I'm aware, the adaptation should work that way too.

According to my records, the AQQ does not have E-gas.

Yes, definitely. Both the old engine and the new one have the code "AQQ". Only the engine block with the cylinder head was replaced; all the other components are from the old engine.
There is no such thing as a "gaszug."

Hmm, okay, then there must be an error in my documents.

It's unlikely, but the immobilizer isn't accidentally activated, is it?

Otherwise, I would probably start by investigating the indicator light that signals an error.
It seems that this is indeed the "condition for initial setup."

However, the engine should ideally run without needing any adaptation.

I have read out all the ECUs.
Combination instrument, immobilizer, and all other control units show no errors. If there were problems with the immobilizer, there should be something in the error memory.
The engine doesn't even start; it doesn't show any signs of life.
When the starter is engaged, the needle on the tachometer also rises, which indicates that the ignition is working. It seems that the fuel injection system is not delivering any fuel.
In my opinion, the fault is not located between the MSTG (motor starter generator) and the motor, but rather it should be sought earlier in the system.

Error codes 16845 and 18087 sound like they might be related to a combination instrument to me. What do the error tables say about them in the VAG system?
