hi,
I have a hypothesis about that.
Should there be a maximum operating temperature for fuel injectors?

The following experience led me to this conclusion.
After I adjusted the start date of my subsidy about 4 weeks ago because the ESP-ZR was replaced, not much has changed yet.
After driving for a few hundred kilometers on the highway at a slightly faster pace, I now feel a noticeable increase in power and torque. Now, some people say, "Well, that's normal!"
Normally, yes, but I haven't experienced this phenomenon under normal circumstances.
and this is the case with very similar driving cycles and driving behavior.
My guess is that the ESD (electrostatic discharge) has now been properly discharged due to the correct timing of the process and a few kilometers of highway.

In a figurative sense, like with a spark plug. However, in this case, it's the calorific value that's relevant. And in a TDI engine, it's the start of fuel injection and, consequently, the corresponding combustion temperature.

best regards, leo

Fuel injectors do not clean themselves at high temperatures; instead, they can become clogged with carbon deposits, which is the worst-case scenario.

After driving a few hundred kilometers on the highway at a slightly faster pace, I now feel a noticeable increase in power and torque.

possibly, the cat that had previously been spayed had been declawed.

and in the case of the TDI, the start of injection and thus the corresponding combustion temperature.

As long as the injection pump is not mechanically completely misaligned, the EDC (Electronic Diesel Control) of the TDI always regulates the injection timing (which precedes the fuel delivery start - measured at the injector) according to a pre-defined map. Whether you adjust the pump slightly earlier or slightly later is irrelevant, as long as the mechanical pump setting remains within the tolerance range.
