Does anyone have any idea if it's possible to reprogram the excessively long shift times of VAG transmissions, and if so, how does it work? I would be grateful for any help.

Which transmission?
Since you have an A6, I'm assuming it has the 5-speed Tiptronic transmission.
As far as I know, there's no one around here who can reprogram engine control units. Apparently, in the US, there are tuning chips available for the TT.
You can also switch the A6 to sport mode. This should make the gear changes slightly faster. Otherwise, depending on the mileage (over 60,000 km), it's a good idea to change the oil and filter in the Tiptronic transmission. That will help too. If you overfill the transmission slightly, you might also get shorter shift times. The shift times are also dependent on the hydraulic pressure. Is the TT really that slow to switch on? Thanks for the reply. I have a 2.7-liter turbocharged gasoline engine. I'll try changing the oil myself.
I increased the boost pressure and did a mild chip tune. Now, the shift times are noticeably worse.
Best regards,
Michael

Sure. Good decision. But don't be surprised by the prices, especially the oil price, which is quite high at almost €12 per liter for VW vehicles.
As I mentioned before, slightly overfilling [something] can also be beneficial. But don't exaggerate. Otherwise, I don't know of any other ways to tune a TT [car model] here in Germany. VW Golf III TDI Avenue, MKB 1Z, EZ96
