Hello
My oil change is scheduled for soon. Now, is the new LL3 oil available? Can I use it in my ARL without any problems? In terms of price, the oils are quite similar.
Does this oil have any advantages or disadvantages for my engine?

Well, if you have a DPF that was never standard in a racing car... why not. But otherwise, there are few reasons to do so. Unless you prefer 5W-30 over 0W-30. |

Hello
No, I don't have a DPF. However, a 5W30 oil might work better for oil consumption, although my Golf might only need 0.5 liters every 15,000 km.
I just wanted to ask if anything has been improved due to LL3.
I have always used LL2 so far.
Has anyone perhaps already had experience with this?

Hello, well, you certainly won't become any smarter that way.
but fundamentally, there is nothing against it if you drive it, or?

Since when is long-life oil allowed in an ARL? And specifically, 0W30 or 5W30?
The ARL actually needs 505.01 oil, and there is only one viscosity class available - 5W40.
however, this new, more expensive oil according to standard 507 also excludes them and can therefore also be used. |

Hello
So, is it then strange? My vehicle has all the sensors for LL installed from the beginning, and it has been filled with LL oil since the first service, even though it was originally supplied with LL oil from the factory!!
I couldn't find anything else in my service manual besides the specified oil with the corresponding standards!
The vehicle also had an oil quality rating of 4 at the time of purchase, and the QG1 specification is also noted.
"The oil is not expensive at all. Buy both types for 7€ each. I think that's quite cheap."

Yes, this only applies to very early ARLs and does not apply to everyone.... |

Hello
So, mine is from 01/02, I think that means it's probably not in good condition anymore.
This LL3 oil costs the same as well, both at VW cost 22€, at least here.
I think that LL3 is definitely not worse, and the new 5 viscosity class is probably better and should also have a positive effect on oil consumption Audi SQ5 8R Cvub |

Recently, there is a standard oil according to VW standards 504 00 and 507 00, which is practically suitable for all engines. Diesel engines with particulate filters necessarily need oil according to this standard, as otherwise the filter will clog up faster. For TDIs with pump-nozzle systems manufactured before 2002, this oil should not be used.
I find that a bit strange, that LL3 can only be used in PD engines starting from 2002?

LL3 replaces nearly all common TDI standards with 507.00, replacing standard 506.01. The reason for this is also explained in the linked thread.
Therefore, I wouldn't just say that you can use LL3 in the ARL, but I would even explicitly recommend it, as it offers a much better wear protection and more reserves (specifically, a HTHS value of >3.5). Specifically with a high-powered engine like the ARL.
The DPF issue is not relevant for ARL, but VW has once again taken a unique path with their DPF engines (unlike other manufacturers) (just like with the LL2, NO manufacturer except Opel and Ford approves oils with HTHS <3,0). While the ash content of LL3 is only 0.6% (less than other manufacturers specify), LL3 oils also have a higher evaporation loss, which leads to the same or even higher total ash content in the DPF as with DPF oils from other manufacturers with, for example, 0.8% sulfate ash.
I'm actually a little "concerned" because my ASZ still has 506.01 oil in it. I'm much happier when the service comes up so I can switch to 507.00. 2007 - ???: Tiguan Sport&Style TDI 4Motion, Mkb. CBA

Hello
exactly what I wanted to hear
Today, I handled my own customer service and filled my ARL with LL3 oil from Castrol.
1. First Impression: It seems to me that the engine is running more smoothly with the oil, but it could also be my imagination. Let's see how far I get before the warning light comes on again. This time it was already after 24,000 km, and I think that's not too long for an LL.

The oil should also not remain in the LL for longer than 30,000. The oil from a TDI engine after 50,000 km is completely "used up" and its dispersant properties and alkaline reserve are completely depleted.
According to {SOURCE}, my {ITEM/THING} is... "Always change the oil every 30,000 km - I think this is still acceptable (for a long-distance vehicle)."
However, one could consider switching to fixed intervals, as the oil would be significantly cheaper. 2007 - ???: Tiguan Sport&Style TDI 4Motion, Mkb. CBA

Well, I don't mean cheap, I want to buy the Castrol LL2 and LL3 for 7 euros per liter from [Ein].

Well... we also have examples of posts with the results of an oil analysis. I wouldn't phrase it that way at all.
But the thing about running more calmly... well, if you believe it, then the change has definitely been worth it! |
