Hi everyone,

Today, I replaced my fuel injectors, which had 250,000 km on them, with new ones from Bosch. Everything went smoothly. I removed the old ones, installed the new ones, and tightened everything as it should be.

The car has more power, runs more smoothly, produces less soot, and responds better to acceleration, etc.

'Unfortunately, I've noticed a change in the sound when the engine is idling. We all know the sound of our car, right? And that's why even the smallest inconsistency stands out! It sounds like a metallic clacking... It's hard to describe, but I think it's coming from either the injector with the needle lift valve or from the fourth (rearmost) injector!'

It's actually barely audible, about 2/3 as loud as normal hammering. So you really have to listen closely to figure out what I mean. But, of course, right after installation, you can listen carefully to see if everything sounds okay.

'Now I was wondering if this could be caused by the new injectors. Maybe it's simply because the spring tension, etc., in the injectors is still excellent, and the opening pressures are all still accurate, blah blah blah... Or did I assemble something incorrectly? I don't think so, though.'

Perhaps someone has already replaced their nozzles and noticed the same thing.

Thank you very much.

chris

Does anyone have any idea what might be causing this?

Sure, here's the translation:

Hi!

Ticking is normal.
I also recently replaced the fuel injector and noticed that noise, which has now disappeared.
There was no lack of power because of that, so I wouldn't worry about it!

It's just that I hear the faint ticking sound in the engine compartment when I slightly press the accelerator louder than I hear the engine itself. But that's probably because I'm only focusing on that sound.

Hmmm.

... Your engine now has a proper combustion process again...

Unfortunately, it's typical for TDI engines that the combustion process can be somewhat harsh. PD-TDI, HDI, or CDI engines regulate this through a multi-stage injection process. A VE TDI cannot do this! Once the injector opens, the injection process can only be stopped, but not restarted.

Assuming everything else around your engine is fine (no stuck-open EGR valve, for example), and the injectors are not newly defective, I wouldn't worry about the noise.

...read more under "When are fuel injectors worn out?"

I believe that the change in the engine noise was an indication that the fuel injectors needed to be replaced.

Okay, I understand. But before, it sounded more complete, warmer, and now it's rougher and less polished.

Sure, here is the translation of the text from German to English:

'cu' is a Spanish abbreviation for 'con usted,' which means 'with you.' It is often used in online communication to indicate that the sender is available to chat or talk.

Here is an example of how 'cu' might be used in a conversation:

Person A: 'Hey, I'm bored. Want to chat?'
Person B: 'Cu!'

This means that Person B is available to chat with Person A.

'Cu' can also be used to indicate that the sender is thinking about the recipient. For example, if Person A is thinking about Person B, they might send a message that says, 'Cu.'

In general, 'cu' is a friendly and informal way to communicate with someone online.

'I just heard that the injectors can drip... great. The injectors are supposed to be brand new from dieselsend.de. That's just fantastic. I was just at Bosch, and they said that one of the injectors is definitely faulty. Luckily, they were new. I'm hoping for some understanding from dieselsend.de now.'

I'm sorry, I don't understand. Can you please rephrase your request?
