Hello.
"I drive a Golf 4 TDI 4Motion ARL with a chip tuning. It seems like my clutch is about to fail soon. I'm planning to install a Sachs performance clutch when my old one gives out. Has anyone else done this before?" Is there a big difference?
What are some recommended upgrades or modifications for a Volkswagen Golf 4? The vehicle should remain roadworthy.

Hi...
I had another one refurbished once, but I haven't installed it yet because it belongs to a different gearbox.
We also did the same for a customer's 206 RC (2.0 gasoline engine, 180 hp). We had organic pads, model B6088, installed. In his case, the pads cut off the power flow with a noticeable jerk at high engine speed differences, but the automatic transmission was also reinforced by 20%. In most diesel clutches, it is unfortunately not possible to reinforce the automatic transmission, but only the friction material .
When starting, you need to be very delicate with the clutch, but it's manageable. However, with the sintered metal parts, you lose the ability to fine-tune the engagement.
Did the company Hennig Fahrzeugtechnik in Essen manufacture the extreme equipment for Sachs? Peugeot 307 (T5)1450kg Speck, RHS, MJ2002, 138g CO2 inkl. Korken im Auspuff und goldene Möhre 2006, MAF+50% mit passender Dieselmasse. nunmehr 370000km |

Hello pa-mm6!
I have a Sachs Racing clutch installed in my Audi A3. It's a clutch with a torsionally sprung disc and organic friction linings. In your case (ZMS), you would need to use a rigid disc with organic friction linings.
Basically, the clutch is good, very well controllable, although it requires significantly more force and has a much shorter range of modulation!!!
My wife has hardly driven the car since the modification, because she says she gets cramps in her thighs after 5-10 minutes of city driving .
Well, I don't find the clutch to be that difficult to operate, but it does require some getting used to. You experience a noticeable reduction in comfort, but the clutch is really excellent and provides a good amount of torque.
Initially, I noticed a slight tendency for the engine to stall, but this was resolved by engaging the clutch.

I installed a Sachs Performance clutch about 40,000 km ago, after the old one slipped due to the chip. The price, performance, and build quality are simply excellent. For me, the modulation path remained the same, and the amount of effort required was actually reduced.
The driving comfort remained, but the clutch still engages very abruptly. No slippage, even when engaging under load. |

Hello.
Thank you for your feedback. What exact model of car do you have?

Hi,
My landlord also has the Sachs Performance clutch, and there's no difference compared to before. Leon ARL with chip.

How come it's not performing better? Or, is there anything else that can be done? Supposedly, it's supposed to handle up to 440 Nm on a Golf 4 without any problems.
Does anyone happen to know where I can get these at the best price?

You have to be careful which ones you get; in my case, the Sachs Performance ones had the standard Sachs part number, so I would only consider having a new friction disc riveted onto the old pressure plate. Or explicitly, something with an organic coating.
If the clutch pedal becomes easier to press after a while, it usually indicates a new automatic transmission. Over time, it will gradually become a bit harder to press again. In the case of the gasoline engine, we had the automatic transmission reinforced (with 20% stronger springs), and the difference is very noticeable. Hi!
I have an Audi A3 with 90 horsepower, which now has 135 horsepower thanks to a chip tuning and larger injectors.
I got my clutch from this company: a.claus@henniggmbh.de
320,- including shipping to Austria. The set included a friction plate, pressure plate, and release bearing. The 440 Nm figure seems realistic to me. |

Hello.
Is that then the Sachs Performance version? I currently have a few offers, but none of them are below 600€.

Yes, it's Sachs' performance.
However, my Stone Age AGR (automatic gearbox) with a wastegate turbocharger has a "normal" clutch.
It will likely be more expensive with a dual-mass flywheel. |
