7J 16 Wheels with 205 Tires: Will They Fit?

Hi.

Can you fit 205-size tires on 7Jx16 rims, or is the rim too wide for those tires?

Specifically, I want to equip my 3C summer aluminum rims (Milwaukee) with winter tires.

I have BBS VZ 005 wheels on my Audi, and they are even 7.5 inches wide.

and if you're not specifically driving right next to these natural granite paving stones , there's also no increased risk of wheel damage.

Is the standard 16' aluminum wheel for the Leon not a 7 x 16' wheel?
It is then driven with 205/55 R 16 tires.

Basically, it works as described above. My Alfa has 215/40 R 16 tires on 7x16' rims, and the tires still have a nice, thick sidewall. Therefore, the inner rim lip is not exposed.

The aluminum alloy wheels in 16" size have a width of 6.5 inches.

Besides the explicitly labeled "Cortina" winter alloy wheels with their 6.5J width, all 16-inch 3C wheels have a width of 7J.

And since the steel rims that are fitted to the 205-size winter tires also have a width of 6.5 inches, the question arose.

Because in the summer, 7Jx16 aluminum rims with 215 tires are used... or like me, 235 tires on 7.5J rims with a 17-inch diameter.

Hello Martin,

The standard tire size for the G II was typically 7x15 with 195/50 R15 tires.
Therefore, it should definitely fit for size 205.

I lack that kind of experience, because driving a G2 D with 195 tires is like driving a space shuttle with a parachute... it stops very quickly.

I only had "fat" 5.5Jx13 alloy wheels from the G1 SC on the G2 (note that these are not the narrow 5Jx13 wheels!!!), just like they are displayed at the Autostadt .

It all depends on the engine; the size was perfectly suitable for a GTI, and even more so for the 16V. Even with the 195 tires, a significant portion of the 16V's 208 km/h (approximately 129 mph) top speed remained... Many people also used the 7x15 inch wheels on the first generation GTI.

My III GTI Edition came from the factory with 6.5x15 inch wheels and very wide 205/50 R15 tires. And the current TDI SE has 7x17 inch wheels with 225/45 R17 tires. So, it's a continuous development that's appropriate for the unladen weight .
