Register Jubi BBS Wheels 16" with 195/40 Tires

I have a Golf GTI with a 3-cylinder engine, and several years ago I had 7x16 ET 43 JUBI Golf wheels installed with 215/40 R16 tires, and they were registered/approved for use.
According to VW's expert report, only this tire size can be used. However, I would like to install 195/40R16 tires, but how do I register them later?

It might be difficult. There are also very few 195/40 R16 tires available.

It will certainly be easier with 195/45 R16 tires. They also only cost half the price of 195/40 R16 tires.

If you have a good inspector, they will only check the load capacity of the tires and the clearance around the car. If you find an inspector who is very thorough, it will be expensive. In the worst case, it could result in a separate inspection.
Some inspectors also accept comparative expert opinions. This means using an expert opinion for a similar BBS rim that includes the tire size. However, not all inspectors do this.

I have BBS BT210 wheels (7.5 x 16). According to the technical inspection report, I am allowed to use tires of size 195/45-16 in the front and 215/40-16 in the rear. However, I wanted to use tires with a lower aspect ratio, so I spent a long time sitting with the TÜV inspector and getting advice. He told me that it shouldn't be a problem to use tires with a lower aspect ratio, as this would provide more clearance.

However, the following points must be taken into consideration:
- Make sure to talk to the examiner beforehand, as they will be the one to officially record it later.
- The tire dimensions must be compatible in terms of rolling circumference.
- A certificate of conformity from the tire manufacturer is required, confirming that this tire combination is suitable for use on this vehicle with the corresponding electronics (ABS or even ESP), and specifying the rolling circumferences. (In my opinion, the difference between the front and rear rolling circumferences should be no more than 1%).
- It is helpful to have a second document that shows the rolling circumference of the original tires.
- If there are significant differences in rolling circumference between the original and the new tire, the speedometer may need to be adjusted (which shouldn't be the case for you).

"I'm currently running a tire size that's one size smaller in terms of width and aspect ratio than before (195/40-16 and 215/35-16), and that's on a 7.5" rim. Since you're even using 7" rims, a 195/40-16 should also work without any problems."

My conclusion:
1. First, have a polite conversation with the TÜV inspector, and then registering the vehicle won't be a problem.
2. The tire width is extremely narrow. While I actually enjoy it and have been riding with it for two summers now, I'm considering switching back to a wider tire in the long run (which would then need to be registered), as it's not comfortable enough for me. Also, you have to be very careful of things like high manholes, railway tracks, or driveway entrances. You do get used to it quickly, but it can be annoying, both for me and for my passengers.
